Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Office of Research & Grants Research & Scholarly Affairs Committee (RSAC) Faculty Research Award Program 2011-2012 RSAC Research Mentor Incentive Awards Due November 1, 2011 General Information: Research Mentor Incentive Awards provide an incentive for OU-HCOM faculty to acquire research mentoring through new collaborations with research-active Ohio University faculty members from a different discipline. The research mentor must have an established and externallyfunded research program. The expectation is that faculty members will develop and submit a proposal for external funding by the end of the RSAC award period. Research Mentor Incentive awards can be submitted in conjunction with Pilot & Small Project Award proposals. Award Amount: $1,000. Awards will be transferred directly to the research mentor’s Research Incentive account. Budget Restrictions: Not applicable. Deadline - Proposals will be accepted only when a call for proposals has been issued by RSAC. For additional information see the RSAC Award Program General Guidelines. Proposal Guidelines and Preparation Instructions All proposals must be submitted electronically in PDF Format. Proposal must be single-spaced, with 1" margins and no smaller than 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font. Proposals must include all components in the order listed below. Proposals that do not follow the guidelines outlined below will be returned to the faculty member for revision or withdrawn from funding consideration. 1. Cover Page: Includes name of the mentee, the name and affiliation (department and college) of the mentor, and the project title. 2. Project Summary (2-page limit): Please provide a description of the research plan with a statement on the role of the mentor. 3. Rationale for Request (1-page limit): Please provide a statement of the relevance of the research program and collaboration with the mentor to your short- and long-term research goals. 4. Biographical Sketch(es) (Investigator and Research Mentor; 4-page limit each): NSF or NIH biographical sketches will be accepted as long as they include the relevant information listed below. A biographical sketch of the investigator must include: A. Professional Preparation; B. Academic Appointments; C. Recent and Significant Publications and D. Grant Activity: List all current and pending external and internal support (including amounts), as well as grant submissions and re-submissions during the previous three years. Please indicate titles and role on all grants. 5. Checklist and Supplemental Information: Complete and enclose the attached Checklist. Final reports for previous funding from the Office of Research & Grants since 2008-2009 must be included if not already on file. Other supplemental information should include copies of Environmental Health and Safety or Research Compliance (IRB or IACUC) approvals, grant proposals, and grant reviews, if applicable.
