CFL Winter 2014 Sub/Replacement Player List MANAGERS MUST REQUEST SUB(S) NEEDED NO LATER THAN TWENTY (20) MINUTES BEFORE GAME TIME. THIS IS LEAGUE POLICY FOR ALL TEAMS AND WILL BE ENFORCED. MANAGERS NEED TO REQUIRE THEIR PLAYERS TO BE AT THE FIELDS AT LEAST THIRTY (30) MINUTES BEFORE GAME TIME, AND MANAGERS NEED TO KNOW WHO IS PRESENT AND WHO IS NOT. ADDITIONAL SUB RULES FOLLOW THE LISTS. When recruiting a sub, you must report who the sub is replacing and for what dates to the League Commissioner. REMINDER!! Recruited subs are subs. They must go at the end of the lineup and they don’t count as a roster player. A team may recruit as many subs as needed but must have at least eight (8) roster players to play an official game. A team may only get two (2) subs at the fields. “A” Players- All recruited A-subs are restricted to sub for only two (2) games for any one team. This is the ONLY sub/replacement list. It consists of non-drafted, sub only, and new sign ups. A manager cannot recruit a player who is not on this list EVEN IF THE PLAYER SAYS HE WANTS TO BE ON THE LIST. A player can only be recruited after the player has submitted an application to the CFL, is placed on the list and the list is officially published with his name on it. All “A” rated subs are restricted to subbing for only two games for any one team. All “B” players on this list can be used as a one game sub or an extended sub B player, B for B. If a “B” sub is recruited “for the rest of the season”, it is NOT optional that he plays every game for the rest of the season. It cannot be adjusted one week to the next. The sub must play and the player he is recruited for does not play. So do not recruit a player “for the rest of the season” unless you are certain that is what you want. Once a replacement player is recruited as a roster player, he stays on the roster and is removed from the sub list. A replacement player can be used anywhere in the lineup as he is now an official roster player for the team. A replacement player becomes important if a team finds its roster getting low and to avoid a forfeit situation. A team must field EIGHT ROSTER PLAYERS in order to avoid a forfeit. A manager must contact the sub and get his okay. Then the manager must notify the League Commissioner by phone or email stating what player is being replaced, the sub player and for what games. Once this is done, the substitute is official and that sub player cannot sub for any other team in that time slot. If a sub says, “NO” to one manager, he cannot say “Yes” to another for those game days. Once a manager recruits a sub, he cannot UN-recruit him. The sub plays. If the roster player who the sub is replacing becomes available, the roster player is not allowed to play for his team. He may, however, sub in any of the other games. The same sub player cannot be recruited for more than one time slot. That player can sign up at the fields to sub in the other time slot. A sub must bat last even if he is subbing for more than one game-he is still a sub. A team can only get a sub if it has less than eleven players. The only exception to this is if the team needs a pitcher. A team is allowed up to three (3) subs. Only two subs may be obtained at the fields. This sub list is going on the CFL website and will be kept up to date on the site. As a result there will not be any email updates to the managers. Be sure to check the website. If there are any errors, omissions, or questions about the list or the sub rules please contact Ed Walker.
