CALL FOR PROPOSAL NOW OPEN FOR Wednesday, May 28, 2014, Fairfield University DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Friday, March 8th, 2014 The Connecticut Distance Learning Consortium and Fairfield University invite you to share your groundbreaking ideas, research and best practices in the design and deliver y of online education in higher education. Submit a conference presentation proposal and plan to join your colleagues for this conference on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. We invite proposals with a focus on the following areas: Instructional Design and Faculty Development: Quality standards, universal course design, accessibility, content curation, faculty mentorship, faculty workload management, gameification. Open, Mobile, Global: Creative Commons, OER, MOOCs, international partnerships, technology impacting study abroad programs (i.e. digital storytelling), mobile technology in the classroom, mobile/responsive course design Student Success and Learner Support: Student orientation, learner support resources, social media, information literacy, self-regulated learning, online tutoring, online academic coaching, accessibility, supporting and engaging traditional and non-traditional student populations, adaptive learning, online remediation The Many Faces of Assessment: E-portfolios, authentic assessment, program assessment, competency-based models, badges, online proctoring, program evaluation, data analytics. Proposal Criteria and Submission Process Reviewers use the following criteria when evaluation submissions: Relevance – The topic is relevant to online and blended teaching and learning in higher education and contributes to research and/or effective practices in the field. Coverage - The topic is clearly described and the session covers the topic adequately. Innovation – The topic has innovative concepts. Research/Outcome Based – The topic is research/outcomes based. Takeaways – The session includes key takeaways for participants. Improved Processes and Best Practices – The session could help improve processes and/or best practices in the field. Knowledge – The speaker or speakers appear to have sufficient knowledge and expertise to address the topic. Step 1: Identify the track that your session will address: ☐ Instructional Design and Faculty Development ☐ Open, Mobile, Global ☐ Student Success and Learner Support ☐ The Many Faces of Assessment Step 2: Identify the type of session you are planning. ☐ Presentation: A 50 minute presentation in which you share information related to one of the learning tracks. ☐ Panel Presentation: Two of more individuals addressing one of the tracks from multiple perspectives. Inter-institutional panels are encouraged (50 minutes). ☐ Round-Table or Special Interest Groups (SIG session): Be prepared to lead a discussion on a topic of interest related to one of the tracks (50 minutes). Step 3: Your Proposal Title of Your Presentation: A Brief Description – Please explain in 50 words or less what you plan to present or discuss. This abstract will be used in the conference program. Objectives of the Session – Identify 2-3 learning outcomes for your audience. Learning outcomes should accurately reflect your session content and they should explain what participants will achieve as a result of attending your session. Example: Participants will identify strategies for improving student to student communication in the online classroom.
