About This Opportunity
As an intern in the Merchandising Exposure Program (MEP), you’ll learn how to apply your analytical
skills, classroom learning, and interest in retail to make a meaningful contribution to the growth of our
company. Over the 10 week long program at our corporate headquarters in Deerfield, IL, you will have
the opportunity to work with and learn from a group of innovative individuals focused on guiding the
growth of the leading drugstore retailer.
Previous Merchandising Interns have worked on projects in Strategic Planning & Analysis, Pricing &
Promotions, Merchandise Planning, Owned Brands, and Purchasing. In addition, all interns have the
opportunity to work with individuals throughout the company including interaction with the following
divisions: Finance, Pharmacy, Sourcing, Purchasing, Store Operations, Supply Chain, Owned Brands, and
Marketing.
The program is designed to provide you with a full experience as to what your career within Walgreens
could look like. We position you to succeed with training, exposure to the business, social activities,
mentorship, a case competition, and performance management sessions for your continued growth and
development.
Our Merchandising Exposure Program is a key entry point for merchandising professionals at Walgreens.
MEP is designed to attract high-potential candidates looking to further develop their analytic skills and
careers in retail by participating in the Merchandising Analyst Rotational Program (MARP) after
graduation. MEP is the key pipeline for the full-time Merchandising Analyst Rotational Program.
Walgreens is looking for individuals that have a strong analytical foundation, superior communication
skills, excellent problem-solving skills, demonstrate assertiveness, enjoy a fast paced, dynamic
atmosphere, and desire to learn more about the retail industry.
As a part of the Merchandising Exposure Program, interns experience the following benefits:
- Training: We provide formal classroom training, professional development training, and on-thejob training throughout the program ensuring that all interns have the skills to excel within their
internship.
- Mentoring: All interns receive a mentor and buddy, allowing for two immediate sources of
information and guidance. Both will help build your career and network within Walgreens in
addition to answering any questions you may have throughout the program.
- Case Study Competition: All interns will be assigned to a cross-functional intern team where
they will complete and present a Walgreens case study. Teams will present to senior leadership,

team.
Visibility to Executives: In addition to presenting to senior leadership in the case study
competition, interns have the opportunity to participate in scheduled lunches with executives
throughout Merchandising.
Distribution Center and Store Tours: Interns are given the experience to tour one of our
distribution centers and flagship stores, allowing you to see the application of your work and
how it impacts the customer and store employees.
Social Events: Throughout the internship we schedule social events in Chicago ranging from a
sporting event, to seeing the famous improv group, The Second City. These are a great
opportunity to network with your colleagues, and enjoy Chicago in the summer!
Potential Full-time Offer: Based on performance, high-performing interns will be extended an
offer to participate in the full-time Merchandising Analyst Rotational Program after graduation.
Basic Qualifications & Interests:
 Currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program with 2 to 3 semesters remaining with a
graduation date no later than June 2016 and have a GPA of 3.0
 Majors in fields such as Merchandising, Marketing, Economics, or Financial Analysis
 Communication skills such as writing reports and presenting the information to key stakeholders
 Experience collaborating with teams.
 Intermediate level of MS Excel and Access such as creating spreadsheets & databases, running
reports, calculating totals and formatting.
 Experience analyzing data
 Experience using financial modeling skills such as determining ROIC, business analytics, and
problem solving
 Knowledge of working in a matrix environment

About This Opportunity

Requirements

Recent college graduate or college graduate with one to three years of professional experience
Kimberly-Clark Consumer Marketing is based out of Neenah, WI. Associate Brand Management interns are
assigned projects offering hands-on experience and skills-application, with specific, measurable
objectives aligning with core priorities of the Brand. Interns will be equipped through on-boarding and
on-going development to act with freedom in delivering both their personal and professional goals. Types
of exposure include strategic brand development, annual business plans, and/or customer-focused
programs.
Job Responsibilities:
• Conducting in-depth analysis to identify problems, find trends, make hypothesis, create compelling
stories and make sound recommendations about the brand, competitive, category, customer or consumer
trends to enhance the brand’s equity and market performance.
• Owning and managing projects aligned to the development of customer specific commercial programs
that integrate the brand / shopper and customers’ goals in support of the brand commercial plan.
• Development and implementation planning of distribution, packaging, shelving and merchandising
strategies and plans.
• Exposure to the development of brand strategies and commercial programs.
Qualifications:
• 1st year MBA student with an emphasis in Marketing

The Nestle USA Supply Chain & Procurement Internship Program provides a meaningful, 10-12 week paid
summer internship to high-performing college students who are interested in a Supply Chain, Logistics, or
Procurement career. Our leadership team will assess the interns educational background and overall fit to
determine the appropriate program placement. Supply Chain at Nestle USA is responsible for the end-toend management of finished product creation, from procuring ingredients to customer distribution.
The internship will focus on Corporate Supply Chain, Distribution, or Procurement.
Corporate Supply Chain focuses on activities including forecasting, production scheduling, and planning
transportation & distribution moves.
Distribution focuses on projects to optimize distribution center and transportation.
Procurement focuses on projects to help Nestle leverage total purchasing spend, activity based costing,
responsible sourcing, and creating synergies throughout the organization.
Interns are assigned substantive projects and receive developmental feedback to gain a better
understanding of the role and importance of Supply Chain & Procurement within Nestl. Projects will
include exposure to various aspects within the function such as research, data gathering, analysis, and
formulating and making recommendations to key stakeholders. At the end of the program, interns will
have an opportunity to present the results of their project(s) to senior leadership. Upon successful
completion of the internship, interns will be considered for full-time employment Nestle.
The internship offers the following opportunities:

-Research the root cause of packaging write-offs for specific products and examines possible drivers,
such as: specific factories, seasons, brands, segments, new items, and customer specific items
-Evaluate and determine how much product, in dollars, goes unreported in salvage reports and,
understand the cause of the amount of salvage/wasted goods and offer suggestions on how to reduce this
amount
-Perform a spend analysis across North and South America for selected ingredients and present
opportunities to key stakeholders in the business.
-Complete a competitive bidding process using the strategic sourcing strategy and recommend business
awards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements
-Preferred majors: Supply Chain, Logistics & Transportation, Operations
-Other majors: Economics, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Marketing and related
disciplines
-GPA of 3.0 and above
-Microsoft word and excel preferred
-Are graduating between December 2015 or May/June 2016
-Solid analytical skills, strong presence and the ability to communicate effectively
-Geographic flexibility and ability to relocate
