You have 2 weeks to complete your Google Doodle. Over Thanksgiving break start thinking of ideas that you can
draw for the contest. On Monday you will do a brainstorm activity to help you acquire ideas and we will be drawing
some in class. If you want to try to win, I recommend you start your drawings now! It is a contest, so you will be
competing with the 9th grade classes for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for a candy bar or candy of choice (or smoothie if you want
to be healthier). Everyone will receive a Drawing Grade ESK 2 so it is required to do the drawing. The top 3 winners
will be mailed off for the contest. The winners only will have to write 50 words describing their drawing. How does it
describe what makes you... you, but that’s only for the 3 winners.
Due Date: December 4th

Choose one of the 3 options for your Google Doodle.,..
Option 1
Micrography (Text Art)
Directions: Evolve the self-portrait one step further by creating a micrography self-portrait. Micrography is a
self-portrait as a portrait made out of words describing the person.

2. In your sketchbook do a line drawing of your face using a selfie or photograph as inspiration. You can print a
picture and transfer it by tracing it using graphite on the back. Use the list and fine tip sharpie to fill in words
over the contour lines. Words can be repeated if necessary.
4. Use small letters and eliminate space between letters to fill in the image
Option 2
Personality
Directions: Think about your personality traits and physical characteristics.
1. Leading questions like:
What’s a special place you would like to visit?
.
What’s your favorite musician and why?
.
Do you have a special talent?
.
What’s your dream job?

chopsticks. Use the computers to create your doodle digitally using any image editing software that you already know how
to use. (i.e. Google Drawings, Paint, Photoshop, etc.). You can also use a phone app. Photograph your drawing and add a

.
2. Take a photograph of yourself acting out one or more of the answers to the questions above about What Makes

4. Choose one or more photos that conveys What Makes Me...Me as inspiration for their doodle. You may choose to
print out this image for reference or to trace. You may choose to add a filter or sticker to it from your phone apps.
5. Complete your doodle on 8X10 paper in your sketchbook or on computer paper.
In creating your final drawing I encourage you to collect items like photographs of their favorite things, nature items,
keepsakes, magazine cut-outs, digital print-outs, and other textiles. Note - you can use any tangible materials that
they feel represent who you are, and 3D doodles such as pottery are also fair game! However, submissions are
reviewed in 2D so please send a photograph of the masterpiece. I encourage you to use the textiles collected along
with other materials like paint, markers, glitter, etc. to create a self-portrait that best represents who you are inside
and out.
