SUEZ-Tractebel Operation & Maintenance Oman LLC (STOMO) is a leading Power & Desalination
Plant operator in Oman, employing more than 350 people and operating Six Power Plants, Two
Desalination Facilities and a Fleet Maintenance Center. STOMO operating facilities produce over
60% of the electricity in the Sultanate and over 40% of the desalinated water.
We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated self-driven Omani national with strong Technical,
Leadership and Organizational skills to fill the position of MAINTENANCE MANAGER IN
TRAINING.
The ideal candidate must have;
a) Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of 5 years maintenance or commissioning
engineering experience in a power generation, petrochemical or process systems.
b) Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field.

1. JOB PURPOSE:
o To apply specialist electrical engineering expertise to ensure the efficiency of operations in the Electrical
Department at Sohar II Power Plant;
o To ensure plant electrical equipment is maintained as per procedures documented in the Maintenance
Management System (SAP);
o Preparation/Modification of maintenance procedures as per OEM/OES recommendations and loading it into SAP.
o To ensure downtime of the plant is reduced by careful planning and implementation of maintenance practices of all
plant equipment and efficient resolution of equipment defects;
o To ensure necessary spares and consumables are available and manage these inventories as it relates to
electrical equipment to ensure high availability of electrical equipment.

Description
Safety at Work:
 Ensures a safe working environment for himself and the
Electrical Technicians whilst working on any equipment;
 Obtains a Permit to Work for each job as necessitated by
Sohar II Power Plant HSE Procedures put in place;
 Ensures all necessary precautions are taken by himself, the
Electrical Technicians and Contractors while performing any
jobs in the Plant;
 Ensures that all necessary tools are available to ensure
safety whilst working on equipment;
 Monitors Electrical Technicians and contractors to ensure
Safe Work Practices as per Plant HSE Guidelines are
followed;
 Points out any unsafe conditions to management.
Team Leadership:
 Leads the Electrical Maintenance Technicians and ensures
a high level of efficiency in the team;
 Builds and sustains a committed, cohesive and dynamic
team;
 Acts as a mentor for the Electrical Team;
 Leads by example;
 Recommends the appropriate training for the Electrical
Technicians.
Maintenance Task Planning and Execution:
 Ensures maintenance tasks are
completed
by
the
Continuous on-the-job
application of the
STOMO HSE routines;

incidents and near

Electrical Team
Performance






Technicians as per work orders generated in SAP;
Ensures the reports of maintenance done is documented in
SAP;
Generates reports as necessary for the maintenance done;
Plans for and ensures that maintenance of all electrical
equipment is in accordance with OEM Manuals for the
equipment;
Along with the Maintenance Manager, ensures electrical
equipment maintenance planning is correctly scheduled so
that all equipment is maintained as per OEM recommended
intervals;
Arranges for condition monitoring of electrical equipment;
Reviews Electrical Maintenance Procedures and suggests
improvements.
Equipment Failure Troubleshooting and Repair:
 Supports reliable and accessible 24-hour engineering callout functionality;
 Attempts all possible means of reducing equipment
downtime and ensuring high plant availability;
 Performs troubleshooting activities as necessary to
determine failure conditions and rectifies defects found;
 Record and reports rectified jobs to the Maintenance
Manager;
 Generates reports of equipment failure;
 Performs Root Cause Analysis of failures;
 Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving
problems encountered with electrical equipment.
Reporting, Overall Planning and Budgeting:
 Discusses planned and unplanned jobs undertaken with the
Maintenance Manager;
 Works with the Maintenance Manager for outage planning
and execution;
 Assists the Maintenance Manager in planning and budget
preparation processes.
 Produce maintenance reports at the end of maintenance
activities
Spares, Consumables and Tools:
 Ensures that adequate inventories of spares and
consumables are maintained;
 Places requisitions for purchase of required spares and
consumables;
 Ensures necessary tooling is available to all Technicians;

Ensures Third Party Certification of all tools is done on an
annual basis or as required;
Ensures all tools are maintained and are in good working
condition.

 Assumes ownership of Plant’s electrical equipment and
strives to maintain them in the best possible condition.
Delivers technical advice to enable efficient maintenance of
electrical equipment and continuous Improvement:
 Delivers technical advice to colleagues and contractors to
ensure safety and the proper execution of Plant
Maintenance Practices;
 Applies engineering knowledge and skills to review and
update task lists for equipment. Implements initiatives to
address inconsistencies in SAP scheduling, practices and
documentation.
Trains and develops Electrical Technicians to build the
workforce’s technical capability and to deliver a step up in plant
performance:
 Coach Electrical Technicians on electrical equipment, Safe
Work Procedures and Operational Techniques to ensure
proper execution of Plant Routines;
 Prepares and delivers technical training electrical systems
(example GT, transformers, bus system and switchgear.
