Summer Enrichment Programs There are plenty of summer enrichment programs for students who want to earn extra credits and build their resume & transcripts early before starting their Fall semester at their college. These programs are generally for students with a strong high school record and gives the student the opportunity to start early on building a successful foundation at college. Students accepted into these summer programs have the advantage of earning credits early, working in much smaller classroom sizes, and gain more one-on-one experience with their professors. Bridge program begins two weeks before fall classes start and runs through the fall semester Includes room and board for the two-week summer portion is free. Attendance and commitment to the program is required The Bridge Program is a graded, 2-credit course There are one-on-one weekly meetings with an Academic Skills Coach throughout the fall term Time management, critical reading, communication, study skills, and college-level independence are addressed Stonehill College: Science Bridge Program – Students with strong high school record, recommended by high school teacher or counselor. The College Prep Experience: 4 week program designed to introduce rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to the college experience by helping them prepare for their first year in college. Workshops focus on life skills required for a smooth transition from high school to college. Credits from classes will be applied toward college transcript. 3. Summer Seminars: 3 week sessions with seminars specializing in academic programs unique to Northeastern. The seminars carry 3 credits and foster a high level of student engagement and creativity. Students may choose from the following seminars: Entrepreneurship, Sport in Society, or App Lab. 4. College 101: This distinctive summer experience is meant for high school students who are interested in preparing for the future, as well as, honing their academic skills. This is a 2 week NON-credit program and offers students the opportunity to engage in college-level learning. Courses focus on topics such as, college writing, public speaking and skills for academic success. The bridge program is funded by the National Institutes of Health and managed by the Leadership, Excellence, & Acceleration Projects (LEAPs) at the University of Massachusetts Boston, in Partnership with Bunker Hill Community College and Roxbury Community College Participants in the Bridges program receive practical training in modern laboratory techniques and then are placed in supportive UMB and associated research laboratory working environments where they establish peer/mentor relationships Bridges participants are paired with junior and senior-year undergraduate students, minority graduate students or supportive staff research associates. http://qa.massachusetts.edu/umassstem/boston.html Bridgewater State: STREAMS Program – For students enrolled in the Fall semester at Bridgewater, to get an early start on Math and Science Research. The first track is a full ten-day transferable course for credit. The second track is also a ten-day track except it will contain 4 different workshops of your choice. 10-Day Summer Bridge Program for 2012 – 2013 high school seniors and college freshman interested in an enriching experience this summer.
