Look for details about wealthy, working class, imperialism, women, the poor, etc. Journal Two: 10 pts Lady Susan Meets Lady Gaga: Pick a popular pop song that you think “fits” Austen’s novella, either in terms of theme or characterization or plot. Journal Three: 20 pts Option A: Collage. You are the casting director for the first ever film adaptation of Lady Susan. You have all of Hollywood, London, and Paris clamoring for the roles. Who would you cast for the lead roles and why? (Collage = pictures, names of stars with their characters Explaination on a separate sheet of paper. Each actor gets a separate paragraph. Option B: Creative Writing. Pretend you are Mr. Charles Vernon, Frederica, or Miss Summers, or a new character, Fanny Fenwick. Compose at least two letters in the person of your chosen character. They can either give a new side of the story on three events, or describe events not touched on in the novella at all. For example: Charles writing about going to London to pick up Frederica; Miss Summers writing about Frederica running away from school; Maria Manwaring writing to Fanny Fenwick about Lady Susan; Mr. Manwaring writing to Lady Susan about missing her, etc. Option C: Compare/Contrast Paper. Write a short compare/contrast paper about Lady Susan and Lady Macbeth or Sir Gawain and Lady Bartilak to Reginald De Courcy and Lady Susan. Option D: Reflection Paper. Write a short reflection/persuasion paper about how either Lady Susan is just a woman trying to survive or she’s a godless woman. Journal Four: 10 pts Now that you've read the entire novella.
