STUDENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
DEPARTMENT OF NURSING
There may be multiple work-study positions available in Nursing. The applicants will:
 Complete the attached application and submit electronically or physically to Donna
Keaton, Department of Nursing Secretary BSC 416. Her phone number is 826-6160 if
you need more information.
 Interview with Dr. Wilkins or her designee.
 Must be self-directed and know when to ask for assistance.
Time schedule for each position will be best matched with the needs of the lab and the
academic schedule of the best candidate.
Nursing Laboratory Technician
(Lab Tech Position)
Additional qualifications
 Must be in the Nursing curriculum
 Have a GPA Accum > 3.0
 Have required recommendations from Nursing Faculty. This may be an e-mail to the
Chair of the Nursing Department supporting your consideration for the position.
 Be available for 6-8 hours/week for 14 weeks both fall and spring semester. (140 contact
hours each semester)
 Works under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Manager for Nursing.
 At no time is this person considered in a primary teaching role with peers. This is always
referred to the faculty.
 Provides technical support at the direction of faculty in the setup and maintenance of the
lab.
 Provides support to students in acquiring equipment and supplies for lab practice.
 Provides support for the faculty under their guidance.
 Manages open lab hours at the direction of the Lab Manager in order for nursing
students to practice.
 Maintains the security of the lab and its contents during open lab hours.
 Is self-directed in managing and reporting hours to the Lab Manager or her designee.
Requirement:
Student employee will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement for both FERPA
and HIIPA

Nursing Tutor
Additional qualifications
 Must be a junior in the Nursing curriculum
 Have a GPA Accum > 3.3 and B or better in all Nursing Courses at the Sophomore
Level.
 Have the required recommendations from Nursing Faculty Members. This may be an
email to the Chair of the Nursing Department supporting your consideration for the
position.
 Availability of hours will be determined by the Student Success Coordinator.
Job description – Nursing Tutor


Provide tutoring support for students enrolled in Nursing courses during the current
semester.

supporting your consideration for the position.
 Be available for 10 hours/week for 14 weeks both fall and spring semester. (a total of
140 contact hours each semester)


