The Worlds Biomes First............ALL WRITTEN WORK MUST BE HANDWRITTEN!! Mission: You have three tasks to complete on your mission. Presentation date: TBA. Task 1 Your first task is to research your biome. Your research notes should be kept in your notebook. You need to gather information for each requirement listed below. Prepare an iMovie or Keynote presentation 1. Define Abiotic and Biotic abiotic. List several abiotic and biotic factors. Be specific. 2. Location on the earth. Make a global map. 3. What is the climate in your terrestrial biome? (a list of the conditions including light, temperature range, precipitation, For aqueous biomes O2 and CO2 gas concentrations, precipitation, salinity, temp. etc.) 4. Soil Type, Surface composition or what is at the bottom of the lake/ocean/river. 5. List 5 facts related to climate change or global warming in your biome. 6. List the Natural Resources that people get from your biome. 7. Make a list of plant Life. Name and picture. 10 organisms. 8. Make a list of animal life. Name and picture. 10 Organisms. 9. Make a food web for your Biome. Transfer data to a trophic pyramid and an energy pyramid. 10. Describe what is meant by “Population Density” and list the types of “Dispersion Patterns”. Cite one organisms from your biome, state its dispersion pattern and explain why it has this pattern. 11. Define and cite an example from your biome for each species interaction listed below. (From your biome if possible) Competition--name the organisms. Parasitism --name the organisms. Predation --name the organisms. Commensalism --name the organisms. Symbiosis --name the organisms. Mutualism--name the organisms. 12. Define primary or secondary succession and cite an example. (From your biome if possible) 13. Environmental Concerns: List several impacts caused by Human Beings. List several impacts caused by pollution and/or global warming. List several endangered species. List some conservation efforts happening in your biome. 14. Define carrying capacity and what factors control it. Make a population graph with carrying capacity shown. Task 2 You will make a 5 to 10 minute class presentation about your biome. The format you use is your choice. You may choose to make an i-movie, create a slide show, write and sing a song, build a model, paint a picture. You may have the class do a lesson that you design. your only limit is your imagination! Task 3 You must include an APA style Bibliography to site your resources. You need to have at least 5 resources. Two of these resources should come from other sources than the internet. See the attached for proper APA style format. Terrestrial Biomes Tropical Deciduous Forest Temperate Broadleaf Forest Tropical Rain Forest Temperate Grassland Coniferous Forest, Taiga Tundra Chaparral Desert Aquatic Biomes Lakes and ponds (3 zones) Swamps, bogs, marshes, bayous Streams and Rivers Coastal Ocean Intertidal Zone Coral Reefs Explain what is meant by Photic Zone, Aphotic Zone, and Benthic Zone.
