Release Notes for Predixion Enterprise Insight™ 3.1 This document describes new features, prerequisites, and known issues for Predixion Enterprise Insight 3.1. Detailed installation steps can be found in the setup guides. New Features Encapsulation of Business Logic Based on Predictive Results Two new features extend the concept of an application: Goals and functions. Modeling Goals enrich the Machine Learning Semantic Model™ by allowing you to define automatic selection of the best model for a given problem. You can request a goal that must fulfill a condition instead of having to choose among a group of models. Modeling Goals can be accuracy-related: the best area under the ROC Curve, the best recall, or the best R2 metric. Modeling Goals can be business related such as cost minimization or profit maximization. Modeling Goals are supported for classification, segmentation, and estimation. Functions allow you to specify the processing after a model has predicted an outcome. For example, the model might classify items, but we are more interested in the distribution of these classifications. Functions allow you to tailor the predictive output to your specific needs. Extended Data Access Extended Data Access (EDA) enables you to connect to and work with data stored in databases and other data storage types in Insight 3.1 without first loading data into Excel. For example, you can connect to and work with MySQL data via ODBC. Insight 3.1 provides the EDA subsystem and a template connector file. Predixion Software provides a sample EDA ODBC sample that you can use as a template for writing a custom EDA executable. Look and Feel of Dialog Boxes and Wizards The updated look is crisp, clean, and simple and provides an overview of functionality of dialog boxes and wizards and provides seamless integration with Microsoft Office 2013 Excel. Improved Setup The Setup for Predixion Insight 3.1 provides more checks and provides better feedback about prerequisites. If prerequisites are missing, you can make corrections during installation and continue to install, instead of restarting setup from the beginning. You can also upgrade from Predixion Insight 3.0 to Predixion Insight 3.1. Quantile Chart View Updated Accuracy Charts include a quantile chart for classification models. The quantile chart depicts the probability of a state for population quantiles ranked by probability of that state. The bar chart that shows the distribution of data points by quantiles. The height of the bar is the average probability of the state for that quantile. The new DISCRETIZEBIN function returns numeric data in contrast to the DISCRETIZE function, which returns string data. In-Database Scoring In-database scoring is now supported for classification rules. For users of Predixion Insight for Microsoft Excel® 2007 Predixion Insight 3.1 does not support Microsoft Excel 2007. Users of our free cloud service will no longer be able to use Excel 2007 to connect to the Predixion Insight Cloud Service. We recommend upgrading to Microsoft Excel 2010 or 2013. If you are using Predixion Enterprise Insight or the Developer Edition and you must use Excel 2007, you cannot use Predixion Insight 3.1. You can continue to use Predixion Insight 3.0. For users of Predixion Insight for Microsoft Excel 2010 with PowerPivot 2008 R2 Predixion Insight 3.1 no longer supports PowerPivot2008 R2. We recommend that you upgrade to Power Pivot 2012. If you need to upgrade to PowerPivot 2012 then you should uninstall your existing Predixion Excel addin and install the Predixion add-in for Excel 2010 with PowerPivot 2012. If you cannot upgrade to Microsoft PowerPivot 2012, you will still be able to use Predixion Insight, however the PowerPivot integration will not be enabled.
