Dean Liaison Report to the PNC Faculty Senate December 7, 2012 1. The following individuals having been reviewed in a competitive process have received sabbatical approvals for AY 13-14. Dr. Michael Connolly, Social Sciences Dept., Fall 2013 Dr. Paul Hecht, English and Modern Languages Dept., AY 13-14 Dr. James Pula, Social Sciences Dept., Spring 2014 Dr. Sarah Sanders Smith, Business/OLS Dept., Spring 2014 2. Deans have requested that Department Chairs actively conduct discussions and seek input from faculty in requesting departmental budgeting priorities for AY 13-14, currently ongoing. 3. Teacher education’s national and state accreditation review visit by NCATE/IDOE will begin Saturday, Sec. 8th and will conclude on Tuesday, Dec. 11th. Teacher education at PNC was first nationally accredited in 2006, and NCATE has existed since 1956. Faculty members from COLA and COS are active participants in this accreditation visit. 4. Due to an unexpected delay, the advertisement for the national search for a new Dean for the College of Business will appear in just a couple of days in the HigherEd Jobs. Com, the online Chronicle, PNC website, and with other venues shortly. 5. The Area Committee has finalized a document providing clarification on the expectations in Learning, Discovery and Engagement for promotion to the rank of Professor at Purdue North Central, and will be available on the VCAA S-Drive soon.
