ANNOUNCER:

(Music underneath throughout)

It’s tropical storm season, so you need to be prepared!

Don’t wait until a storm is in the gulf to make plans and stock up on supplies.

Do it now!

Plan for both evacuating AND staying put, in case you have to hunker down for awhile.

That means getting all of your supplies together.

A disaster supply kit should include enough food and water to last seven days, as well as flashlights, a first-aid kit, and batteryoperated radio and lanterns.

Here ’s a list of some additional supplies to have ready: duct tape, a can opener, scissors, heavy gloves, garbage bags, and blankets.

Also, all GBR employees should have received this package of materials in the mail.

It includes a guide with lots of useful tips on hurricane preparedness.

There’s also a wallet card with emergency contact information.

Keep it close at hand so you know how to stay in touch with the site if you have to leave.

Be sure to keep your car’s fuel tank full, in case you have to evacuate.

And if you have pets, prepare for them, too.

If you plan to evacuate, check to make sure that wherever you’re going, your pets will be welcome.

You can find a lot more information about planning for tropical storms and hurricanes at a couple of really good websites.

Try hurricanes.gov/prepare and ready.gov.

Be prepared, and stay safe!
