VOLUNTEER PROTOCAL
GENERAL INFORMATION
As one of the first impressions for visitors to the Cleveland, it is important that volunteers enjoy
their experience in order to have visitors do the same. In order to do so, it is important to be
conscious of the following items as you represent your city and this amazing event.
Please be aware to:
 Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your scheduled shift.
 Check-In at the designated location for your shift.
 Wear your volunteer uniform in a neat and clean manner for all volunteer shifts.
 Always be kind and courteous; remember volunteers are the first people spectators will
interact with; SMILE!
 Call the Command Center if you have any issues with your shift: 440-826-3739
DRESS ATTIRE
Each volunteer will be given an Event Staff T-Shirt. You will receive your shirt prior to the start
of your first shift. Please wear shorts or pants and a comfortable pair of shoes. Most shifts
require you to be outside for extended periods of time. Please check the weather and be
prepared (i.e. sunscreen, raincoat, umbrella, etc.)
MEDIA INTERVIEWS / CRISIS COMMUNICATION

Please do not talk to the media. If you are on-site when an emergency situation arises,
please gather all the facts possible to relay to contacts listed above.
COMMAND CENTER INFORMATION
A Command Center is located at Baldwin Wallace University. This will be the main location
for all tournament operations throughout the week. A volunteer will be staffing the
Command Center at all times. Please contact the Command Center if you have any
questions or need to cancel, add or change a shift throughout the week. The Command
Center is located in the College Union – Sandstone 1. The Command Center phone number

VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS
General Volunteer Positions
Athlete Lounge
 You will also be asked to monitor the Athlete Lounge
 Inside the Athlete Lounge we have: pool tables, ping pong tables, video games,
computers and lounge areas.
 You are to run the checkout table and pass out the items as necessary.
 Assist the athletes with any questions or needs they may have.
 Do not allow the athletes to play rough with any of the equipment.
 Monitor the athletes for unruly behavior.
Bag Stuffing
 Each of the athletes and coaches will receive a gift bag. The coaches will receive a
bag from adidas while the athletes will receive a sling pack courtesy of TA Travel
Centers.
 A variety of goodies will need to be stuffed into each bag.
Command Center
 You will be stationed in the Command Center
 You will be provided with a Command Center Manual that will provide detailed
information on the tournament to assist you in answering any questions that may
come up (i.e. schedules, directions, contact phone numbers, etc)
 You are asked to answer the Command Center phone when it rings and answer the
questions to the best of your availability or find someone who can answer the
question.

Dance Party
 You will also be asked to assist in setup of the Dance Party
 A variety of decorations need to be hung and placed around the facility.
 Sit at a check-in table to make sure only Continental Cup athletes are entering the
Dance Party
 During the Dance Party, you are to assist in monitoring the athletes
Registration
 You will be asked to assist in the registration process
 Specific instructions will be provided to you upon arrival at your shift
 A coach or team manager will show up for each team. They will provide to you a
team roster/player waiver, allergy form and code of conduct form.
 You will file all paperwork in the appropriate binder and provide to the
coach/manager with the wristbands for their team, a coaches bag and the athlete
gift bags.
Opening Ceremony Volunteer Positions
Activity Coordinator
 You will be helping to run some of the activities during the Festival Village and opening
Ceremony.
 Some of those activities you may be helping with include:
o Face painting booth
o Tattoo booth
o Stage/entertainment
Parade Manager
 The international athletes will be bussed up to the arena from Baldwin Wallace
University. You will help get the athletes off the bus when they arrive.
 The athletes can participate in the activities until 7:30pm. At this time, they have been
instructed to be at the Athlete Parade Check-In where they will be checked-in by
volunteers
 You will assist in organizing the athletes alphabetically by country on the concourse.
 You will walk with the athletes during the parade to help keep them in line, keep the
line moving and to direct them wear to go on the floor
 After the show, you will assist in getting the athletes back to their busses.
Setup Team
 You will assist the event staff in setting up signage, activities, and any other last minute
details before the Opening Ceremony begins.
AC Milan Continental Cup Volunteer Positions
Soccer Assistant
 You will be designated a certain number of fields that you are responsible for.
 At the time you check in, you will be issued a radio, a field marshal vest and the game
balls for your designated fields.
 You will be given a copy of the schedules for your fields
 Your main duties will be to:
o Make sure the correct teams are at each field
o Make sure each field has a game ball
o Monitor the fields for any injuries
o Monitor the fields for any fan behavioral issues
o Monitor the fields for any weather issues
 Another duty of the field marshal is to keep monitor over the fields for any issues that
arise (i.e. fan behavior, medical issues on the field, referee issues, weather issues, etc)
 You will use the radio to call into the tournament staff if there are any issues at the field
and assistance will be provided.
Festival Village
 Inside the Festival Village, you will be serving in a variety of roles:
o You will be asked to monitor the inflatable areas.
o You will be asked to assist in maintaining the referee and volunteer hospitality
tents.
o You may be asked to assist one of the vendors, if needed
o You may be asked to fill in as a soccer assistant, if needed
o You may be asked to assist in posting scores inside the Tournament Scores Tent
Cleveland Indians Charities Continental Cup Volunteer Positions
Baseball Assistant
 You will be asked to fulfill a variety of duties as a baseball assistant.
o Deliver and collect score sheets at the beginning and end of each game
o Maintain the hospitality tent
o Assist in providing the umpires with baseballs before, during and after games
o Monitor the fields for any issues that arise such as: fan behavior medical issues,
weather issues, etc. Radio in to the event staff if any of these issues arise.
o Assist in posting scores inside the Tournament Scores Tent
Cleveland Cavaliers Continental Cup Volunteer Positions
Basketball Assistant
 You will be working at the basketball venue and will be asked to keep score in the
scorebook or to run one of the score clocks.
 You will be trained on how to perform both of these tasks at the beginning of your shift.
 You may be asked to assist in maintaining the volunteer hospitality room to keep the
snacks and drinks replenished.
 You may be asked to help fill water containers inside the basketball arena
Continental Cup Volleyball Volunteer Positions
Volleyball Assistant
 You will be asked to assist in keeping score in the scorebook
 You will be trained on how to perform both of this task at the beginning of your shift.
 You may be asked to assist in maintaining the volunteer hospitality room to keep the
snacks and drinks replenished.
 You may be asked to help fill water containers inside the basketball arena
Basketball Assistant
 You will be asked to keep score in the scorebook or to run one of the score clocks.
 You will be trained on how to perform both of these tasks at the beginning of your shift.
 You may be asked to assist in maintaining the volunteer hospitality room to keep the
snacks and drinks replenished.
 You may be asked to help fill water containers inside the basketball arena
