CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT CHECKLIST

I understand that I MUST HAVE CONCURRENT COORDINATOR & COUNSELOR APPROVAL FOR CONCURRENT
ENROLLMENT COURSES PRIOR TO ENROLLING!!!

I understand that I Must Have Concurrent Coordinator Approval for Withdrawal from Concurrent Enrollment
Courses.

I understand that all Concurrent Enrollment paperwork MUST be filled out online with my legal name – not
abbreviations or nick names.

I understand that I must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for general education classes such as…Math, English,
Science, and History Concurrent Courses. Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 can take select career and
technical education classes (this is on an individual student basis with district administrative approval with a signed
contract and plan to bring up the student’s GPA)

I understand that I am able to enroll in Concurrent Enrollment courses following my 10th grade year of High School;
this includes the summer before entering my junior year.

I understand that by enrolling in concurrent enrollment I must:
1. Complete the college application and pay the one-time college admission fee per college
2. Register online for each class for each semester
3. Pay $5 per college credit partial tuition charge for each course. This cost may change per legislators.
4. Purchase my own materials including textbooks, fees, and supplies
5. Late fees will be assessed by the Universities and will be my responsibility

I understand that by NOT completing the concurrent admissions application process and registration process, I will
not receive college credit or additional high school credit that a concurrent class may be eligible for.

I understand that concurrent enrollment courses charge a $5/college credit (subject to legislature) partial tuition
up through the first 30 credit hours per year (June to June). Partial tuition charge is only available up through 30
credits, after that it is full tuition at the college.

I understand that once I graduate, I am no longer eligible for Concurrent Enrollment.

In order to be eligible for the New Century Scholarship, I should meet with the college academic advisor from the
college/university that I will receive the Associate Degree from. For deadline and policy information
www.higheredutah.org/newcenturyscholarship.
o Funding for The New Century Scholarship is approved by the legislature each year and therefore funding
is subject to their approval.
o High School Counselors are not qualified to approve Associate Degree courses and direction.
o Associate degrees normally require a minimum of 60-65 credits. Not all of these credits may be funded by
concurrent enrollment.

I understand that by enrolling in concurrent enrollment that these are college level courses. I am fully aware
these are more difficult courses and that there is a faster pace to the class. A great deal of time must be spent
on homework in each concurrent class to obtain an “A” or “B”.

I understand that Concurrent Enrollment classes may be posted as additional credits on my transcript. One “C”
grade in a 3 college credit concurrent class will post as a full year (1 credit) of “C” grades on the High School
transcript.

I understand that a placement test or ACT score is required for English and Math courses (see institution for
requirements).

I understand that it is my responsibility to order college transcripts from each college I took CE classes from in
order to be admitted to the college I choose to attend.

I understand that Concurrent Enrollment Grades are permanent on the high school and college transcript.

I understand that Colleges and Universities have strict guidelines that I am expected to follow. Please refer to the
college/university handbook.

I understand that if I receive a “D” or “F” grade in a concurrent enrollment course, I will not be approved for
additional enrollment in concurrent courses. I must maintain a minimum 2.0 college GPA to be in good standing
with the college. Poor performance jeopardizes your ability to qualify for financial aid, scholarships, and college
entrance.

I understand that I may not retake a college course as concurrent enrollment. However, I can retake the course
through the college at full tuition.

If I have a school district IEP or 504 accommodations, the college does not recognize this. I need to go to the
college disability services for accommodations in my college courses (must be college specific).

I understand that as a student enrolled in concurrent courses, I need to be self-disciplined in my behavior
management. Some of these college courses may be taught through IVC/Ednet and finish before the end of the
semester. I understand that if I am enrolled in a concurrent course that is completed before the end of the Tooele
County School District’s semester, I shall be released to my parent’s responsibility.

I understand that Colleges do not accept any late forms or late work. Meeting the deadline is the first college test I
MUST pass.

I understand that the teaching methodology and content of this course(s) is designed for college students.
Discussions, lectures and research may contain subject matter and language that is on a more mature level than
public education standards. The content may include controversial cultural, political, religious, aesthetic and
human sexuality issues.

I am responsible to obtain and fill out appropriate drop forms with my high school counselor and Concurrent
Coordinator in the event that I choose to officially drop or withdraw from any of the courses for which I am
registered. I understand that I will not be allowed to drop the course after the 10 th day from which the college
course begins. Failure to properly withdraw from a college course will result in a failing grade.

I understand that college level grading standards will be used, and I will comply with the standards set forth in the
course syllabus. I also understand that the grade(s) I receive for courses will become a permanent record on my
college transcript, regardless of the results. The final grade that appears on my high school transcript must be
identical to the final grade that appears on the college transcript.
I have read and accept the conditions outlined above for enrolling in concurrent enrollment courses, and I agree to
conduct myself accordingly.
