REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR VOLUNTEER REQUEST
Date: Friday, 19 February, 2016
Location: Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota
The Southeastern Minnesota Western Wisconsin Regional Science Fair is soon approaching and we need your help.
Our regional science fair continues to grow. We are expecting to have about 250 student participants and
approximately 70 judges this year. The Regional Science Fair Committee asks that you consider volunteering at our
regional science fair on February 19, 2016. Your help will ensure a successful fair!
The following is a list of tasks that require the help of volunteers. You can volunteer for one task or spend the entire
day at the fair. Free lunch will be provided to volunteers who spend a significant portion of the day volunteering. This
list includes approximate times for each task. The exact times depend on several factors (e.g. number of projects,
number of judges). Thus, we ask that you be flexible in planning your day’s schedule.

If appropriate, state your preferences by marking tasks as 1, 2, 3, etc.

Regional Science and Engineering Fair
Paper Submission Procedures
The following procedures should be followed when submitting a paper to the Regional Science and
Engineering Fair 2016. The submission deadline is January 22, 2016. Paper guidelines are available
online, http://www.jshs.org/guidelines.html
1. Make sure your paper is saved in a Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF file that is less than the

Symposium limit of 1.7 Mb (resaving your Word file or creating a PDF file might help to reduce
its size if you have a lot of photos or graphs). Keep a current hard copy of your paper as backup.
Include an abstract with your paper. Your abstract should be the first page or last page of your
document.
Name your file with your last name.
Attach the file to an e-mail message. The subject line of the message should contain your last
name and your school’s name.
Give your relevant contact information in the message itself (e.g. your full name, teachers name,
school, etc).
Send the email with your paper attached to smusciencefair@smumn.edu
It is the preference of the Fair committee that papers be submitted electronically. But, if
you are unable to submit it electronically, submit your paper by mail by sending it to the
following address. We must receive your paper by January 22, 2015.
