EPP symposium: Emotional Memory
Dates: November Thursday 5, Friday 6, 2015
Location: Kapellerput, Heeze, The Netherlands, http://www.kapellerput.nl

Emotion has a powerful impact on memory, and emotional memory plays an important role in psychopathology. Especially, disturbances in memory appear to be instrumental in various types of psychopathology, such as anxiety, mood, and personality disorders, which are frequently associated with traumatic emotional memories and memory biases. Consequently, emotional memory and disturbances in emotional memory can be a target for psychological therapy. Understandably, emotional memory is one of the central themes in EPP research
In this symposium, we will focus on the role of emotional memory in the aetiology and treatment of a wide-range of disorders (e.g. PTSD, depression, anxiety). Therefore, participants will be familiarized with state-of-the-art research methods and assessment instruments. Richard McNally (Harvard University), Emily Holmes (MRC, Cognition &
Brain Sciences Unit, Cambridge), and other international and national experts in the field will present their research and participate in interactive assignments and discussions spread over this two-day symposium.
