Field of study Integrated Skills (I year MA extramural) Course Code 09.0VIII01AII04_02 ECTS 5 Module Language English Hours 40 Goal of the module Improving the skills of forming logical, detailed texts and utterances, presenting one’s opinion in a wide range of topics, improving one’s range of vocabulary and grammar structures Knowledge: the student knows the rules of correct language use and developed written and oral utterances Skills: the student is able to use English with a near-native fluency on an average level of C1 in written and spoken language; the student uses a variety of registers and communicative strategies in different social contexts; the student is able to create a detailed, linguistic expression of one’s opinions in written and spoken language, on a variety of topics Social skills: the student has a critical approach to their linguistic competences and assesses their need for improvement accordingly An analysis of authentic materials in English; different registers; chosen grammatical issues and their contexts; chosen vocabulary; communicative strategies Types of tasks: Reading: multiple choice; gapped text; multiple choice close Use of English: key word transformations; translation; trios (gapped sentences); word formation; open close; vocabulary practice Listening: multiple choice; gapped sentences; matching Speaking: visual prompts; proverbs & quotations; discussions and debates Writing: critical commentary essay Form and requirements of exercise and laboratory credit: In order to be granted a satisfactory credit students have to pass three written tests and deliver one oral presentation.
