Rock Cycle Fudge The first thing you will need to do is determine what ingredients represent what in the recipe. Once you have labeled, with post it notes, your ingredients you will need to have them checked. Consider the color of the ingredients and the shape. Is it similar to the real rock? Talk over the options with everyone in your group. If everything is correct when it is checked you will be able to begin making your Rock Cycle Fudge! In a large bowl add the following: 1. 1/3 cup of silt 2. 1 cup of quartz crystals 3. 1 tbs. sediments Stir until it has a smooth consistency. _____________________________________________________________________________________ In a separate bowl add the following: 1. 1/2 cup of limestone pieces 2. ¼ cup of sandstone pieces 3. ¾ cup of basalt pieces 4. ½ tsp. of vanilla extract Stir together. Take bowl number one ingredients and microwave for 45 seconds on high. Take it out and stir it smooth and repeat this until it has been heated for 45 seconds three times. (Make sure you keep track of the number of times in the microwave!) After the third heating, pour in the contents of bowl two and stir. Everything should melt to a smooth consistency. If my chance it is not thick enough, microwave it for another 15-20 seconds. Pour the liquid rock onto a piece of wax paper that is in a shallow pan. We will enjoy it on Friday!
