Students, teachers, shop workers, doctors and nurses all get around on bicycles in Cambridge.
The perfect way of getting into work, getting some exercise and seeing the city, you will be
spoilt for choice when it comes to picking your perfect pair of pedals. There are dedicated
cycle lanes all around the city, making getting around on two wheels very safe.
Alternatively, the new guided busway which runs through the city and can drop you on-site at
CUH, is a great, eco-friendly and reliable way of getting to and from work.
Just 60 miles from London, it is incredibly easy to get a number of trains from Cambridge rail
station to there or almost anywhere else in the UK.

Shopping Culture and Nightlife
For all of the prestige of its colleges, shopping in Cambridge is not as expensive as you might
imagine. You’ll find all of the usual coffee chains and restaurants, alongside a massive
variety of independent cafes and shops selling everything from books and kitchenware to
pastries, chocolate and tailored suits.
Internationally famous shops all fit nicely into the surroundings of Cambridge and its Grand
Arcade and your staff discount will take a generous slice out of your bill in restaurants all
over town.
When the evening comes, you can try out one of Cambridge’s three main cinemas or take in
one of many regular theatre shows at venues including the ADC and Anglia Ruskin’s
Mumford theatre.
Then, when summer comes around you could go along to one of Cambridge’s unique
festivals, like the famous Strawberry Fair.
Cycle or catch the bus into town after your shift or at the weekend on almost any evening and
you will see a whole world of students passing between King’s, Queens’ and Trinity Hall to
name a few.
Sports, Fitness and Wellbeing
If all of that cycling isn’t quite enough, you’ll find access to everything from tennis to
swimming is right on your new doorstep. The Frank Lee Centre is CUH’s very own leisure
and fitness centre, with a gym, swimming pool, tennis courts and exercise classes run by
friendly trainers. Go for a jog around any of Cambridge’s many greens and open spaces
including Jesus Green, Parker’s Piece and Christ’s Pieces. Punting, too, is just as popular as
you might imagine. You can hire your own punt, or take a chauffeured trip up towards the
village of Grantchester.
Education
The city of Cambridge is renowned for its famous, world-class schools and colleges – 31
make up the University of Cambridge. This reputation extends to the wide range of state
schools, as well, with plenty of choice for primary, secondary and college education wherever
you live.
