Make sure you know these terms, because they are a large part of this class. In order to receive full points on the reflection portion of this assignment you must have used at least three of these terms in your artist statement correctly and in full sentence structure. Shape/Form: Shape implies spatial form and is usually perceived as two dimensional. Form has depth, length, and width and resides in space. It is perceived as three-dimensional. Craftsmanship: The quality of design and work shown in something made by hand. Pendant: A piece of jewelry that hangs from a chain or necklace. Balance: the impression of equilibrium in a pictorial or sculptural composition. Balance is often referred to as symmetrical, asymmetrical, or radial. Medium: What the art is made out of. For example a painting is made from paint the medium would be what type of paint, oil, acrylic, watercolor, etc. Texture: Texture is the surface quality of a shape - rough, smooth, soft hard glossy etc. Texture can be physical (tactile) or visual. Pattern: Pattern refers to the repetition or reoccurrence of a design element, exact or varied, which establishes a visual beat. Annealing: A hardening of metal. Softening a metal with heat than cooling to make soft, lastly hammering or running through a press to harden.
