Upper Division Checklist
BS Mathematics, Secondary Education
Fall 2010 and Later
Note to Students: Upper Division status is an important point of reference for ECU students majoring in a field
of teacher education. You must be in Upper Division to access many of the senior-level courses in the BS
Mathematics, Secondary Education program and to apply for an internship. Further, once in Upper Division,
students must maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA to remain in Upper Division. Admission to Upper Division requires
the following checklist competencies, a successful interview, and final approval by the Office of Teacher
Education. Students are expected to apply for Upper Division as second semester sophomores or first semester
juniors. Transfer students and those who changed majors may have to wait until early in their junior II semester.
