World History II —Final Exam, Unit #2— MEDIEVAL ROUNDTABLE HEAR YE, HEAR YE: All nobles, knights, priests, monks, nuns, merchants, craftsmen, peasant must attend the Roundtable session on Friday, 1/23. At that time, there will be a discussion on two pressing issues: 1) Should Feudalism Be Abolished? 2) Does Chivalry Work? THE FORMAT: Each student will represent a medieval character; all presentations—oral or written—must be done in character. The written part includes a short biography as well as notes about the issues under discussion. Students will hand in all notes at the end of the roundtable. Observers will also be expected to submit a written report on the oral presentations, with follow-up questions. Extra points will be given for costumes, props or any visual aids. The class will be split in half: one group to discuss the issues, the others to observe. Discussion will take place in a roundtable setting; the observers will sit on the outside of the roundtable, looking in. After 45 minutes, the groups will switch. Oral presentations will begin with a short (1-minute) biography. After everyone introduces him/herself, students will offer short comments on one of the two issues under discussion. Be prepared to present your views on either topic. All arguments must be backed up by evidence. (Use your notes, textbook, or our online database (online.infobaselearning.com) After everyone has had a chance to present their views, there will be an opportunity for rebuttal and debate. If there is time, questions will be taken from the observers.
