Summary of Role:
To provide a high level of professional accounting and management support to the
Senior Management Accountant which will ensure all objectives in the LSTM group
finance strategy are met or exceeded. Assist with the management of LSTM’s
subsidiary companies, assessment of business plans and support for teaching &
learning.
General Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation of the LSTM Group of Companies Financial Statements
2. Assist in the preparation of the LSTM Group of Companies annual budgets
3. Ensuring deliverance of LSTM’s strategic plan through the development & preparation of management
accounting information
4. Work closely with the other accountants within the LSTM Group either leading or assisting, where
appropriate
5. Take an active role in the change management process, contributing ideas, dealing with staff concerns, &
taking a lead role in its implementation
6. Effectively project manage appropriate cross functional projects throughout LSTM when required
7. Provide advice & support on finance issues to all staff
8. Ensure compliance with both the financial regulations & financial procedures
9. Assisting in monitoring key performance indicators
10. Deputise for both Senior Management Accountants
11. Ad hoc project work as required
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Assisting with the monthly accounts preparation for selected LSTM subsidiaries, faculties and departments
including budgets, forecasts and KPIs
2. Assist with all finance issues relating to overseas offices
3. Assist with the development and assessment of business plans in the LSTM Group
4. Monitoring actual income/expenditure to budget & anticipating potential adverse variances
5. Assist with the monitoring and development of KPIs relevant to the strategic plan
6. Monthly review with budget holders, discussing & resolving potential adverse variances.
7. Assist with providing financial information to the Director of Finance on matters relating to the HEFCE grant
& HEFCE returns
8. Assist with the building of reports for both internal and external stakeholders
9. Management and development of Assistant Management Accountant
10. To carry out such other duties reasonably consistent with the foregoing, as may be required
