DESCRIPTION OF YOUR FIELDWORK TRIP:
Please describe in detail when and where you are going and what activities you plan to do whilst you are there?
This trip considers the interlinked processes of exhibiting and narrating conflict through a visit to IWM
London. The morning session will focus on the process of displaying war through viewing of the recently transformed spaces of the Museum, including its highly acclaimed First World War galleries.
There will then be an informal Q&A session with some of the curators involved with designing these displays. The afternoon session will feature a practical workshop. This will showcase a diverse range of archival material from IWM London’s collections – through mini presentations from Museum staff and the excursion convenors – in order to bring together ideas relating to the theme of narrating conflict within academic research.
