Sabeans:
Sabeans - The inhabitants of the ancient kingdom of Sheba in Arabia, known from the
Bible, classical writers, and native inscriptions. The genealogies of Genesis give three pedigrees
for Sheba, the eponymous ancestor of the Sabeans, who is variously termed (1) the son of
Raamah and the grandson of Cush (Gen. x. 7; I Chron. i. 9; comp. Ezek. xxvii. 22, xxxviii. 13),
(2) the son of Joktan and a great-great-great-grandson of Shem (Gen. x. 28; I Chron. i. 22), and
(3) the son of Jokshan and a grandson of Abraham by Keturah (Gen. xxv. 3; I Chron. i. 32).
There seems, therefore, to have been three stocks of Sabeaus: one in Ethiopian city of Saba
mentioned by Strabo, "Geography," p. 771), and the other two in ancient Arabia. Of the latter
one is connected with the story of Abraham, and the other with that of the kingdom localized by
Gen. x. 30, including the Joktanites generally, and extending "from Mesha, as thou goest unto
Sephar, a mount of the east." In Job vi. 19 the Sabeans are mentioned in close association with
the Temeans, an Ishmaelite stock (Gen. xxv. 15) that also dwelt in Arabia (Isa. xxi. 14; comp.
Jer. xxv. 23-24).
Sheba gave name to the Sabaeans, a numerous people in Arabia. Their country was famous
for frankincense; the nations of them, according to Pliny, reached both seas, that is, extended
from the Arabian to the Persian Gulf; one part of them, as he says, was called Atramitae, and
the capital of their kingdom Sabota, on a high mountain, eight mansions from which was their
frankincense country, called Saba; elsewhere he says, their capital was called Sobotale, including
sixty temples within its walls; but the royal seat was Mariabe; and so Eratosthenes in Strabo
says, the metropolis of the Sabaeans was Mariaba, or, as others call it, Merab, and which, it
seems, is the same with Saba; for Diodorus Siculus and Philostorgius say, the metropolis of the
Sabaeans is Saba.
In the Bible
The Psalms and the prophetical books lay special emphasis upon the wealth and commercial
activity of the Sabeans. The gifts of the kings of Sheba (
) and of Seba (
) to Solomon are
noted in Ps. lxxii. 10, gold being especially mentioned among these presents (ib. verse 15). In
both these passages the Septuagint, followed by the Vulgate, identifies Sheba with Arabia
(βασιλεῖς Ἀράβων, Ἀραβία). Isa. lx. 6 adds incense to the gifts which these countries were to
bring (comp. Jer. vi. 20). Despite the collocation with Dedan in Gen. x. 7, I Chron. i. 9, and
Ezek. xxxviii. 13, the merchants of Sheba, whom Ezekiel addressed in the words "occupied
in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold" (Ezek. xxvii. 22),
were doubtless Sabeans; also the reference in the following verse to the "merchants of
Sheba," The wealth of Sheba is indicated also by the list of the gifts brought by its queen to
Solomon, and which were "a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store,
and precious stones: there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the Queen of
Sheba gave to King Solomon" (I Kingsx. 10; comp. ib. verse 2; II Chron. ix. 1, 9.

Word Study and Paraphrase – Isaiah 45:1-3
“Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations
before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the
gates shall not be shut;
Isa 45:2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of
brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
Isa 45:3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou
mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.”
Prophecy may contain an anointing for immediate fulfillment, while reserving another fulfillment at a
later time. This is seen in much of the Old/New Testament fulfillment cycles. It is our premise in this
study that Cyrus, while a literal ancient wicked King in the local time of Isaiah, also holds a figurative
significance. He is representative of God’s ability to take into His hand that which is corrupt and evil, (as
in the prophecy of James 5: “… You heaped treasure in the last days. Behold, the wages of the workmen
who have reaped your fields cry out, being kept back by you. And the cries of the ones who have reaped
have entered "into the ears of the Lord of Hosts." You lived luxuriously on the earth, and lived for selfpleasure; you nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter;.” (Jas 5:3-5 LITV)
The system has proven itself evil, just as was, King Cyrus. But God takes the system into His Hand:
“Doom to you who buy up all the houses and grab all the land for yourselves-- Evicting the old owners,
posting NO TRESPASSING signs, Taking over the country, leaving everyone homeless and landless. I
overheard GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies say: "Those mighty houses will end up empty. Those extravagant
estates will be deserted.” (Isa 5:8-9 MSG)
So, God will place His anointing upon the International system of finance to use it as His instrument, for
the purpose of judgment or blessing for His sovereign divine purpose. Therefore, we will exchange
Cyrus, literally, and use it as “the instrument upon which God places His anointing for a divine
purpose.” We will use “connective scripture” to verify its interpretive validy.
Word Study
Right hand - Right hand always speaks of power, authority and influence.

Loose the loins of kings
Loose - ‫ חתּפ‬pâthach paw-thakh' A primitive root; to open wide (literally or figuratively); specifically to
loosen, begin, plough, carve: - appear, break forth, draw (out), let go free, (en-) grave (-n), loose (self),
(be, beset) open (-ing), put off, ungird, unstop, have vent.
Loins of - A masculine dual noun meaning loins, waist, body, side. It refers to the section of the human
body which connects and supports the upper and lower parts of the body, including the buttocks lumbar
region. Figuratively it refers to the central area of the body, including the belt and the bodily region

where valuables were carried, e.g. money, gold, precious items. It also speaks of strength and power
(for influence, war, etc.).
Kings - ‫ מלך‬melek meh'-lek From H4427; a king: - kings, Princes, Royals
The two leaved (meaning "swinging in & out") doors - Heb. ‫ תלת‬deleth deh'-leth From H1802;
something swinging, that is, the valve of a door: - door (two-leaved), gate, leaf, lid. [In Psa 141:3, dal,

Gates shall not be shut - Gates - Heb. ‫ רעׁש‬sha‛ar shah'-ar From H8176 in its original sense; an opening,
that is, door or gate: - city, door, gate, port (X -er).
Shut - Heb. ‫ סגׁש‬sâgar saw-gar' A primitive root; to shut up; figuratively to surrender: - close up, deliver
(up), give over (up), inclose, X pure, repair, shut (in, self, out, up, up together), stop, X straitly.
Treasures - Heb. ‫' אוצׁש‬ôtsâr o-tsaw' From H686; a depository: - armory, cellar, garner, store(-house),

Paraphrase
“(Verse 1) God releases His anointing upon an evil entity (electronic system of banking), like He did to
ancient corrupt Cyrus, to seize the system of electronic banking/brokerage information, and take it
under His control. He will open wide, and draw out the monetary strength of Royals, to open up the
electronic entries and gates previously closed due to account security, and under God’s anointing, those
(avenues to deposits and holdings) will not be shut.
(Verse 2) God will “go before” (create a history of), and straighten out every detail to make legitimate,
and will totally break down the security of disbursements of bank deposits of which he chooses to
plunder.
(Verse 3) In order to give His people the depositories of wicked ones, and the very secretive bank
accounts (storehouses); and secreted valuables, i.e. stocks, bonds, and accounts thereof; involving their
money, and other properties. Then you, My people, will know that I know each and every one of you so
intimately that I know the very name and identification of each of your personal bank accounts,
brokerage accounts, etc., even as I know the very names and identification information of every bank
and brokerage account of the wicked ones, and I will give my people the treasures belonging to them.
MESSAGE TRANSLATION:
“I'll lead you to buried treasures, secret caches of valuables-- Confirmations that it is, in fact, I, GOD, the
God of Israel, who calls you by your name. It's because of my dear servant Jacob, Israel my chosen, That
I've singled you out, called you by name, and given you this privileged work. And you don't even know
me! I am GOD, the only God there is. Besides me there are no real gods. I'm the one who armed you for
this work, though you don't even know me, So that everyone, from east to west, will know that I have
no god-rivals. I am GOD, the only God there is. I form light and create darkness, I make harmonies and
create discords. I, GOD, do all these things. "Open up, heavens, and rain. Clouds, pour out buckets of my
goodness! Loosen up, earth, and bloom salvation; sprout right living. I, GOD, generate all this. But doom
to you who fight your Maker-- you're a pot at odds with the potter! Does clay talk back to the potter:
'What are you doing? What clumsy fingers!' Would a sperm say to a father, 'Who gave you permission to
use me to make a baby?' Or a fetus to a mother, 'Why have you cooped me up in this belly?'" Thus GOD,
The Holy of Israel, Israel's Maker, says: "Do you question who or what I'm making? Are you telling me
what I can or cannot do? I made earth, and I created man and woman to live on it. I handcrafted the
skies and direct all the constellations in their turnings. And now I've got Cyrus on the move. I've rolled
out the red carpet before him. He will build my city. He will bring home my exiles. I didn't hire him to do
this. I told him. I, GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies." GOD says: "The workers of Egypt, the merchants of
Ethiopia, and those statuesque Sabeans Will all come over to you--all yours. Docile in chains, they'll
follow you, Hands folded in reverence, praying before you: 'Amazing! God is with you! There is no other
God--none.'" Clearly, you are a God who works behind the scenes, God of Israel, Savior God. Humiliated,
all those others will be ashamed to show their faces in public. Out of work and at loose ends, the makers
of no-god idols won't know what to do with themselves. The people of Israel, though, are saved by you,
GOD, saved with an eternal salvation. They won't be ashamed, they won't be at loose ends, ever. GOD,
Creator of the heavens-- he is, remember, God. Maker of earth-- he put it on its foundations, built it
from scratch. He didn't go to all that trouble to just leave it empty, nothing in it. He made it to be lived
in. This GOD says: "I am GOD, the one and only. I don't just talk to myself or mumble under my breath. I

never told Jacob, 'Seek me in emptiness, in dark nothingness.' I am GOD. I work out in the open, saying
what's right, setting things right. So gather around, come on in, all you refugees and castoffs. They don't
seem to know much, do they-- those who carry around their no-god blocks of wood, praying for help to
a dead stick? So tell me what you think. Look at the evidence. Put your heads together. Make your case.
Who told you, and a long time ago, what's going on here? Who made sense of things for you? Wasn't I
the one? GOD? It had to be me. I'm the only God there is-- The only God who does things right and
knows how to help. So turn to me and be helped--saved!-- everyone, whoever and wherever you are. I
am GOD, the only God there is, the one and only.” (Isa 45:3-22 MSG)
Note
Secular observers usually consider Queen of Sheba (Arabic) Malikat Saba,ʾ as a Queen regnant
(Absolute Monarch), however, the Jewish historian, Josephus, describes her as a Queen Consort
(Queen at the King’s pleasure), and that her husband was King of Joktanites, placing him in the
upper coastal area of the Persian Gulf (modern Dubai and Abu Dhabi), that he and the queen
became estranged after she had a son with Solomon, and she moved to and ruled the area that
is now Yemen. However, it seems that all of their combined wealth came from the whole of
both northern and southern Arabia.
