Below is a usable curriculum map which ensures all areas in the new curriculum are covered. Most units are covered each short
term although it is important to note that geometry (which is split into position and direction / properties of shape in all other year
groups) is only allocated one week per term in Y6 as they need to also cover ratio and proportion. In addition on term 2 of each
cycle one week of geometry is replaced with measurement so the other is compounded. Algebra and statistics are allocated to the
weeks in the longer terms as there are fewer resource implications when teaching these areas. Although the suggestion is that
these units could be taught as discreet blocks, connections between the areas should be made by teachers at all times. This is
supported by the fact that some NC objectives appear under more than one of the unit headings.
Plan for 6 weeks per short term plus review time if the term is longer than 6 terms:
