Workshop Proposal Template Civic Leadership Conference – March 5, 2015 – Olympia, WA Overview: The Civic Leadership Conference engages over 300 high school and college students from TRiO programs statewide. Federal TRIO Programs, as defined by the Department of Education, are Federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for low-income individuals, first generation college students, and individuals with disabilities. The goal of these programs is to progress disadvantaged students through the academic pipeline from middle school to post-secondary programs. The Civic Leadership Conference educates students to become self aware of their voice and how they can have an impact within their community. Through a variety of workshops and keynote speakers, the Civic Leadership conference will strengthen student’s leadership styles, their voice, and how to become an advocate for important issues that TRiO students face. Title of Workshop: Section I. – Workshop Summary Each workshop will be about 45 minutes in length and could possibly have 75 or more participants. Workshops should support the idea of “Finding Your Voice” as well as fall under one of the three themes: Community Involvement, Cultural Competency and/or Self-Awareness.
