Albert Square:
The Square Albert- chop house restaurant. Decent and not expensive at all. Most other bars/ restaurants are
chains.
Cross Street;
Mr Thomas’s Chop House characterful old fashioned boozer and restaurant.
(Other good old boozers include Briton’s Protection, Pevril of the Peak, Gaslamp and the Castle.)
Peter Street:
Albert’s Schloss, huge new beer and food hall
Brew Dog Beer, beer, beer and a bit of food
Revolucion de Cuba -food cocktails dancing
Almost Famous- (within Great Northern Warehouse.) Legendary burgers
John Dalton Street:
Salvis- authentic Italian food- not expensive- personal favourite
Panacea -bar and restaurant for WAGS
Bills - cheap and cheerful
La Bandera Ridgefield – quality tapas.
King Street:
Quill- new seemingly very nice
El Gato Negro - Tapas bar with good reputation. Brand new location.
Deansgate Area:
Spinningfields – trendy bars and restaurants galore. Shiny and new as are the people.
Oast House Bar
Comptoir Libanais
Alchemist –cocktails and some food
Neighbourhood -loud bar and restaurant
Artisan- bar and restaurant
Iberica –Spanish tapas
Australasia: pan Asian restaurant that generally needs booking well in advance.
Manchester House - expensive fine dining experience which generally needs booking very much in advance.
Deansgate - loads of lively chain restaurants. Including Byrons, Hawkesmoore, Lunya, Botanist. Behind
Kendalls is Cichetti and opposite its big brother San Carlo.
Castlefield- lively with lots of outdoor space so a bit weather dependent.

Dukes 92
Barca- bar a bit faded now – used to be owned by Mike Hucknell
Liverpool Road Ox gastropub
Akbars- famous nan
Deansgate locks: within arches several large chain late night bars / clubs and restaurants- young crowd
King Street- upper: (mostly quite dressy)
Gotham Hotel - Lutyens building with pleasant restaurant
James Italian- ground floor of above so impressive ex bank
Rosso -Italian owned by Rio Ferdinand
Burger and Lobster - does what it says on tin.
Exchange Square - near Selfridges:
Sinclairs oyster bar- historic pub
Corn Exchange- cheap and cheerful food from around the world.
Printworks opposite-Hard Rock Café and the like.
Both Selfridges and Harvey Nichols have nice restaurants.
China town:
Loads of Chinese/ Thai/pan Asian/ Japanese restaurants. Wings and Yang Sing most famous. Red Chilli a good
alternative
South East Asian:
Rusholme - Curry mile is about 3 miles from city centre. Take your pick.
Near Piccadilly Gardens: (not much to recommend other than)

Northern Quarter:
Very busy trendy area of Manchester with loads of bars and restaurants. Can look a bit run down although
mainly safe. Relaxed and bohemian. Website www.northerquartermanchester.com
Many tried and tested by local team!
TNQ, SoLita, Evuna, Blue Pig, 63 degrees, Ply , NQ Superstore all recommendable. Lots of bars plus the Castle
and Matt and Phreds have live music. Several cocktail bars clubs and dives for late night shenanigans.
Gay Village
Canal Street and streets around full of gay friendly late night bars and clubs.
