Network Leader Date…………………………………………… ACT Education and Training Directorate School Context The priorities in this plan were selected on the basis of the feedback and recommendations outlined in the 2012 external validation report and further consultation with the school community. Particular input was sought from the school staff and the School Board. Since the previous external validation four years ago, the school has expanded to include year 11 in 2011 and further expanded to include years 11 and 12 from the beginning of 2012. This has lead to the senior school trialing of the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network project (ASDAN) and the implementation of endorsed Board of Senior secondary Studies (BSSS) courses. An internal and external moderation process has been implemented as part of these changes with the aim of future Year 12 students having the opportunity of graduation from The Woden School with an ACT Year 12 Certificate. Changes in the leadership of the school have been the catalyst for significant focus on the environment as a secondary school. The change of focus provides students with ageappropriate materials for learning at the levels required – particularly in the context of the Australian Curriculum. This, along with an emphasis on behaviour guidance rather than management, is evident throughout the school.
