Amendment 1
Whereas, Article V Section 2 of the Student Government Association reads, “The
executive election of all SGA officers shall be held spring semester, the first Tuesday in April.
Whereas, The executive election of all SGA officers shall be held spring semester, the second
Tuesday after spring break.
Therefore, let it be resolved that Article V Section 2 be amended to read, “The executive election
of all SGA officers shall be held spring semester, the second Tuesday after spring break.”
Amendment 2
Whereas, Article VI Section 3 of the Student Government Association reads,
“Campaigning may take place anywhere except in the Student Center on the day of the election. The
SGA candidates for the presidency and vice-presidency must present two weeks before the election
date at 12:00 noon a campaign speech not to exceed five (5) minutes. One introductory speech, not to
exceed three (2) minutes must be given in on behalf of the candidate by another student”
Whereas, the SGA candidates for the presidency and vice-presidency must present at the SGA
meeting prior to the election a campaign speech not to exceed five (5) minutes.

the candidate by another student at the SGA meeting prior to the election.
Therefore, let it be resolved that Article VI Section 3 be amended to read, “Campaigning may

b. A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50.
c. Must be a full-time student (12 hours per semester).
d. Must not be on Academic or Disciplinary Probation.
2. Senior Class President must have 90 hours completed.
3. Junior Class President must have 60 hours completed.
4. Sophomore Class President must have 30 hours completed.
5. Freshman class officers must receive at least a 2.50 grade point average at the
end of the fall semester prior to the elections.”
Whereas, A Petition of seventy five (75) signatures from members of their own class.
Whereas, A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50 excluding freshman.
Therefore, let it be resolved that Article VI Section 4 be amended to read, “Class Officers

must be a May graduate.
b. Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50.
c. Must not be on Academic or Disciplinary Probation.
d. Must be a full-time student (12 hours).
e. One chosen for this honor will not be eligible again.
2. Homecoming Attendants Representative
a. Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50.
b. Must not be on Academic or Disciplinary Probation.
c. Must be a full-time student (12 hours).
Whereas, Non-SGA elected positions
Whereas, Must be a senior status before the beginning of fall semester
Whereas, Homecoming Representative
Whereas, A male and female representative shall be compiled from freshman,
sophomore, and junior classes. The senior class is represented by 3 male and 3 female
students”
Therefore, let it be resolved that Article VI Section 5 be amended to read, “Non-SGA elected positions

Amendment 7
Whereas, Article VII Section 1 of the Student Government Association reads, “This
Representative to the Board of Trustees Search Committee shall be at least a Junior and have
maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.0. During the year of service and shall
not be on disciplinary probation. The Representative must have been an active member of SGA
and shall be chosen by a majority vote of the legislature during regular meeting in the month of
March. Recommendations will be made by the SGA President (and cabinet), while
nominations can be taken from the floor of the legislature. This Representative should be able to
represent the students of Bethel College to the Search Committee. This is an honor from the
Board and it should be held with the up-most respect and dignity that the Legislature vote can
provide.
Therefore, let it be resolved that Article VII Section 1 be deleted.
Amendment 8
Whereas, Article VII Section 2 of the Student Government Association reads, “Duties of the
Representative to the Board of Trustees Search Committee.
1. Attend all meetings set forth by the Search Committee.
2. Report to the SGA cabinet any news that concerns the student body that would
not breach the confidential bond with the Search Committee.”
Therefore, let it be resolved that Article VII Section 2 be deleted.
Amendment 9
Whereas, Article IX Section 1 of the Student Government Association reads, “The SGA
has established various standing committees, which assist in the promoting and
developing of various aspects of student life. These committees are: Elections (six
students) (a minimum of 10 students) , Homecoming/Social Activities (ten students),
Food (ten students)”
Whereas, The SGA has established various standing committees, which assist in the promoting

and facilitating any activities that the SGA should put on during
Homecoming or any other time throughout the year.
b. This committee does not exist for the use of the Student Activities
Director, though they can work in conjunction with each other if the
committee so chooses.
c. The SGA Vice President serves as the chair of this committee.
d. The SGA President and Vice President appoint ten (10) members with
the help of recommendations from the Legislature.
e. The committee should meet at least once a month to discuss possible
events the SGA should put on.
f. This committee does not exist for the use of the Student Activities
Director, though they can work in conjunction with each other if the
committee so chooses.
g. The Homecoming/ Social Committee shall assist the Vice President
during any function hosted by SGA
h. The Homecoming Committee shall plan the activities for the current
student body for Homecoming Week.
i. The Homecoming Committee shall vote on the five (5) dress up

Homecoming/Social Activities Committee
Whereas, This committee does not exist for the use of the Student Activities

chooses. This shall be deleted.
Whereas, The Homecoming/ Social Committee shall assist the Vice President

Whereas, The committee shall meet with the Director of Foods once a month to discuss
possible changes that can be made to the food in the cafeteria only.
Whereas, The president shall appoint a member of the student body to serve as chair and
present a report at each SGA meeting.
Whereas, One member of the food committee should attend the first meeting of every
month to give a report on the topics and decisions that were made.
Whereas, The President shall appoint at least ten (10) members with the help of
recommendations from the Legislature.
Whereas, The Food Committee shall give suggestions about the variety and nutrition of
food.
