Angels and Architecture is a DL sized, full colour, fold out leaflet with 12 pages. 30,000 copies of each guide will be distributed to tourism information outlets and other pick up points making this one of the best ways to encourage and welcome visitors to your church. St Michael-le-Belfrey Low Petergate, York YO1 7HH www.stmichaelsyork.org St Michael-le-Belfrey was built between 1525 and 1536. It replaced an earlier mediaeval church that was so badly maintained that parishioners were afraid to enter the building for services. The church probably takes its name from the Minster Belfry which stood here before the church was built. Guy Fawkes, the infamous Gunpowder Plot conspirator, was born in nearby Stonegate and was baptised in this church. The magnificent reredos (behind the altar) and altar rails were made by the York-born artist, John Etty, in 1712. Come and worship with us...
