It is anticipated that this new system will have a water savings of 15% to 20% through better water management and control. The means by which this will be achieved is primarily through the installation of a Computerized Central control Irrigation System 1 (CCIC). As part of the CCIS, historical evaporation – transpiration (ET), rain sensors and soil moisture sensing will be installed and connected to the new system as a means for more efficient control of watering. Master valves and flow sensing capabilities for all irrigated areas on the DFC will also be included as part of the CCIS. Form Rev. Date: 04/28/2008 Strategies to meet the Target / Progress Indicators Proposed Completion Date The new irrigation system will go out for solicitation in April of 2012. Meter building water use at each distribution connection at each metered building to establish baseline water use data within the building. Install Water Meters & Flow Devices: External landscape/ irrigation water use. Metering landscape watering will require a two year process. One year of metering the existing systems and another year of metering the new systems that will replace the old ones. The first year of metering will give us a good baseline and the second year will establish actual water savings. LEED and FEMP guidelines. Teams will work on a set of guidelines that be distributed to contractors, that will address all operational controls. Draft and/or acquire training/educational materials. Team 6 is in the process of attempting to secure BA-61 funds to install the four (4) above mentioned water meters in August/September of 2007. This would push back the one (1) year baseline metering to 2008 and push back the design and installation of the four (4) new irrigation systems to 2009. Note 2: Once meters are installed at buildings and a base line for water use within our buildings is established we can better track our outdoor landscape water use. In the summer of FY 2012 we will be able to subtract the water use in our buildings from our overall water use to determine our landscape water use until the new water meters are installed as part of the new irrigation system. Note 3: Water meters have been installed in buildings 40, 41, 45, 53 & 54. The remainder of the Advanced Metering project is scheduled for completion 12/31/2008. This building meter installation project should be complete. Patrick can you confirm? Note 4: Team 6 will wait for building metering data and deduct that total from the overall water use for the center to determine our irrigation water use. Irrigation water meters will be installed as part of the new irrigation system. Note 5: Train 80% of GSA and contract personnel. All GSA service center team personnel and contractors have been trained. Team 6 has monthly conversations with the landscaping contractor concerning lawn irrigation on the DFC. We are currently following Voluntary watering restrictions recommended by Denver Water. If and when Denver Water institutes water restrictions, those guidelines will be given to our landscape contractor. Note 6: Jesse Jones was the co-Team Lead focusing on Interior Water Conservation. Jesse retired from the GSA in the spring of 2009. NOTE 6A: Jesse Jones has retired and has been replaced by Patrick haze. He will be the CO-team lead focusing in interior water conservation.
