ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS

Co-ordination: Co-ordinate work of this Section with work of other trades for proper time and sequence to
avoid construction delays.

Pre-application Meeting: Convene pre-application meeting after Award of Contract and one week prior to
commencing work of this Section to verify project requirements, substrate conditions and coordination with other
building sub-trades, and to review manufacturer’s written application recommendations.

Comply with Section 01 31 19 - Project Meetings and co-ordinate with other similar preapplication meetings.

Notify attendees 2 weeks prior to meeting and ensure meeting attendees include as minimum:

Product Data: Submit product data including manufacturer’s literature for medium density closed-cell spray
polyurethane foam air barrier components and accessories, indicating compliance with specified requirements and
material characteristics.

Submit list on spray polyurethane foam air barrier manufacturer’s letterhead of materials,
components and accessories to be incorporated into Work.
ICYNENE GUIDE NOTE: In many projects, a self adhesive transition membrane air barrier such as Blueskin ® is used around various
openings. It is important to see details of how this will be applied and how the spray polyurethane foam air barrier is joined to the
membrane air barrier. The same applies to how the spray polyurethane foam air barrier is joined to the sealant.

Applicator Qualifications:

Submit letter on spray polyurethane foam air barrier manufacturer’s letterhead verifying
applicators’s license for work similar to work of this Section.
CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS

Operation and Maintenance Data: Supply maintenance data for medium density closed-cell spray
polyurethane foam air barrier for incorporation into manual specified in Section 01 78 00 - Closeout Submittals.

DELIVERY STORAGE AND HANDLING

Delivery and Acceptance Requirements:

Deliver material in accordance with Section 01 61 00 - Common Product Requirements.

Deliver closed-cell spray polyurethane foam air barrier materials and components in
manufacturer’s original packaging with identification labels intact and in sizes to suit project.

Storage and Handling Requirements: Store materials off ground and protected from exposure to harmful
weather conditions and at temperature conditions recommended by manufacturer.

Protect components from freezing during storage.
.3
Avoid spillage: Immediately notify Consultant if spillage occurs and start clean up procedures.

EXAMINATION

Verification of Conditions: Verify that conditions of substrate previously installed under other Sections or
Contracts are acceptable for closed-cell spray polyurethane foam air barrier application in accordance with
manufacturer’s written recommendations.

Visually inspect substrate in presence of Consultant.

Ensure substrates are clean of oil or excess dust.
.2
Ensure that there is no surface spalling .

Ensure membrane air barrier is completely adhered to substrate in accordance with
membrane manufacturers written recommendations.

Ensure sealants completely fill gaps in substrate and at joints and are applied in
accordance with Section [07 92 00 - Joint Sealants].

Inform Consultant of unacceptable conditions immediately upon discovery.
