REPAIR AND RENEW GRANT
Guidelines and application form
If your home or business has been flooded between 1 December 2013 and 31 March 2014, you may
be eligible for help under the ‘Repair and Renew’ Grant.
What is the grant for?
The grant is aimed at helping property owners to pay for flood resistance and resilience measures to
their properties such as fitting property level protection and waterproofing external walls.
It has been set-up to ensure that high risk households and businesses are better prepared in the
future for severe weather and flooding.
Does the grant cover the cost of flood repairs to my property or business?
No, the grant is only intended to fund measures which improve the property’s resilience or resistance
to flooding, over and above repairs that would normally be covered by insurance.
If a community wish to, they can pool their grants in order to carry out community level flood
protection and resilience work where appropriate.
How much is the grant worth?
Each eligible property or business could be entitled to a one-off grant of up to £5,000.

Please indicate which of the available resilience/resistance measures below you intend to
or have installed and cost (including VAT).
The maximum grant you can apply for is £5,000 (including VAT). Any costs incurred above £5,000
will need to be met from your own funds.
When selecting which measures you intend to install, please read the guidance at the start of this
form and consider information available on reference websites such as the National Flood Forum
www.nationalfloodforum.org.uk/property-level-protection-community-tool. The guidance will help
you select the appropriate resilience/resistance measures for the nature of flooding in your area – not
all of the identified measures may be appropriate, and may make limited difference to protecting or
minimising the damage to your premises. Should you choose to seek professional advice prior to
making an application, you can retrospectively claim up to £500 of the cost as part of your application.
