OVERSEAS FIELDWORK ALLOWANCE Funding Application (2014/2015)
Please read the accompanying guidance notes carefully before completing this form.
You are advised to discuss the detail of any application with the SWDTC Manager prior to drafting an
application (Sonja.Ho@bristol.ac.uk) who will guide you through the application process, the detailed
costings and case. Once your draft application has been discussed it will be scheduled for funding
consideration.
The SWDTC Academic Advisory Board (AAB) will consider applications and allocate the funds to students as
appropriate. Note that funding requests will be considered at a detailed level and the AAB may reject some
or all specific requests for funding.
IMPORTANT:
Students and Supervisors will need to submit completed application forms to their relevant PGR Office
before they are then passed to the SWDTC Manager for final consideration and presentation at the
appointed AAB meeting.

Payment notes: Once an application has been approved by the SWDTC-AAB Panel, the student’s home
institution will make arrangements to pay the student. Approved funds will be transferred by the SWDTC
to the institution in accordance with the financial regulations set out in the SWDTC ‘Partnership
Agreement’. The ‘front end’ element will normally be paid early, to allow for flight costs. The payment
schedule for the remaining funds can be negotiated with the relevant institutional finance office; the full
costs could be transferred directly to the student if that is deemed appropriate.
Please detail here how you would like the payments to be scheduled:
