Public Health Wales – Health and Wellbeing Check for Over 50s Health and Wellbeing Check for Over 50s: Programme Status Report Completed by: Margie Fielden Date Completed: Current status Trend since last report Reporting period: 19/06/2013 06/06/2013 To: Next Board meeting: 19/06/2013 11/07/2013 Headlines: NWIS demonstrated the build to date of the Health and Wellbeing Check for Over 50s to the Chief Medical Officer on 12th June 2013 A workshop took place on 18th June affording an opportunity for colleagues from the 10 Communities First clusters who will commence the phased implementation from October 2013, local Public Health teams and Age Cymru to contribute toward development of the Health and Wellbeing Check for Over 50s and undertake some local planning activity Key Achievements/Updates Next Period to 04/07/2013 Content and IT The build to date has been demonstrated to the Chief Medical Officer Information for users emphasising the benefits of registering with the service and providing an email address if possible has been positioned at the start of the self-assessment Content and IT The NWIS development team will continue to progress as planned building the IT functionality whilst being kept abreast of developments in respect of naming and branding, which will be required to be incorporated into the product In Phase 1, users will be able to access their personalised feedback based on their self-assessment answers as a print-out / download or take action such as following links provided in order to access further information, resources or services. Plans for further functionality to be introduced in subsequent phases are already emerging as a result of the opportunities being recognised for future integration with other initiatives. The development of these plans will be considered by the Programme Board on 11th July. Preparations for the Content Assurance Group meeting on 10th July to review and prioritise content compiled to date will be finalised.Invitations have been extended to colleagues including those with Primary Care and Older Peoples expertise to contribute to the role of the Content Assurance Group, who will quality assure, prioritise and maintain the content of the H&W Check for Over 50s on an ongoing basis. Co-Production, Communication and Marketing The H&W Check for Over 50s was presented and discussed with Directors of Public Health on 11th June. Local Public Health teams will form a vital link supporting access to the H&W Check for Over 50s and supporting access to local services. The Communications and Marketing lead is developing a strategy and plans for communications and marketing of the H&W Check for Over 50s including specific plans for communications activity targeting those turning 50 during 2014. This will be presented to the Programme Board on 11th July 2013. Work to achieve branding and a name which is engaging and clearly Welsh, whilst not overtly referencing an age range, WG or Public Health Wales, is being progressed as a priority. Community support to facilitate access The workshop for colleagues from the 10 Communities First clusters who will commence the phased implementation from October 2013, local Public Health teams and Age Cymru took place on 18th June in Builth Wells. The programme followed on the day appears on page 2. The 48 colleagues who attended made full use of the opportunity to find out about and contribute toward development of the Health and Wellbeing Check for Over 50s and undertake local planning activity. 09/02/2016 Co-Production, Communication and Marketing User engagement to finalise branding and naming of the Health and Wellbeing Check for Over 50s as well as flow through the system will be addressed as a priority. Specific engagement with local Public Health teams will continue to be actively pursued to discuss and explore the opportunities and challenges the Health and Wellbeing Check for Over 50s represents. . Community support to facilitate access Age Cymru will be commencing training of Healthy Ageing Volunteers during July. The 10 Communities First clusters who will commence the phased implementation from October will continue planning in partnership with local Public Health teams, local government and Age Cymru.
