2013-2014 Graduate Assistant Job Title: Project Manager and Principal – Roger Williams University Community Partnerships Center Job Description: The Community Partnerships Center at Roger Williams University delivers projectbased design and preservation services to organizations and municipalities in local and regional communities. These community partnerships broaden and deepen the academic experiences of RWU students by allowing them to work on real-world projects, collaborating with residents and citizens. The 2013-2014 Academic Year will include multi-disciplinary projects that will focus on design, feasibility, marketing and sustainability as we work to complete projects that focus on diverse resources, events and environments. The CPC Graduate Assistant will serve as a project manager on one or two projects during the year and will assist the CPC with the following tasks for those projects: Project management for community partners, faculty and students. Support the overall project needs of multi-disciplinary projects Project-specific precedent research Programming research and analysis Existing conditions documentation (in-field) Converting field documentation into high-quality floor plans, sections and exterior elevations Collaborative design with CPC staff and partner organizations Creation of concept plans Printing of draft and final plans, sections, elevations and details (within SAAHP building – paid for by CPC) Creation of rendered graphics and models as required by the project Meeting with the project partner throughout the design process Support for overall CPC operations Assistance with coordination of CPC events Selection Criteria: Graduate-level candidate for an Masters of Architecture degree at RWU Experience in architectural design, programming and construction materials and assemblies. (Experience in field documenting existing buildings is preferred.) Experience in drafting complex site plans, building plans, elevations, sections and details, and Proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT, Sketch-Up and other design software as necessary Project management and strong organizational skills Requirements: Students should have experience in architectural design and experience in AutoCAD, REVIT and Sketch-Up. Students should have a positive attitude and be comfortable working in both independent and team settings. Students must be confident and comfortable working in a leadership role and managing small teams. Students should be comfortable working in a professional setting and be able to adhere to guidelines and schedules. Students should have strong written and oral communication skills, be well organized, and work well in a high-energy, fast paced environment.
