Dear Parents and Carers
At the end of this month we will be having book week in school to celebrate all that is wonderful
about reading! The week will run from Monday 29th June until Monday 6th July.
We have got a fun, filled week planned with lots of opportunities to share reading experiences.
To launch the week we are inviting children to come to school dressed as their favourite book
character! This will take place on Monday 29th June. Children can come to school dressed up all
day, they will be given the opportunity to parade their costume in assembly and then we will be
having a picnic lunch on the playground (weather permitting!). Mr Portman will be in charge of the
music!
Other activities that will be going on throughout the week:
 Decorate a chair to be displayed in school
 Visit Seacroft Library
 An assembly from the library service to launch the Summer library book challenge
 Art work based on a specific author
 Each class creating a class story book to be judged by Mr Dyson
We will also be getting the travelling books into school that week, some of you will remember them
from a couple of years ago. The book cases will arrive in school on Tuesday 30th June. From
Wednesday 1st July parents will be welcome to come into school 20 minutes before school and at
the end of the day to purchase books from the cases. All books sold will result in a commission for
school, in the form of books from the cases. So… the more we sell, the more we get for our
classrooms!
We are really looking forward to our week and can’t wait to see all of the wonderful learning that
comes as a result of it!
Yours sincerely,
A Winter
