Dear UIL Coordinator:
Ringgold Middle School is pleased to invite you to our annual Mighty Rattler UIL Invitational Meet on Saturday,
December 10, 2011. We will send a verification form when we receive your entries.
All events will be offered at this meet. Entry fees are $5.00 per individual event and $10.00 for group/duet events. We ask that your list of participants in grades 6 th , 7 th , and 8 th be submitted no later than November 22, 2011. All additions
or deletions should be submitted prior to this date. No refund of fees beyond this date will be given. We will host the first 15 schools that register; we recommend that you respond promptly.
Ringgold Middle School will award sweepstakes trophies to each grade level 6 th , 7 th , and 8 th . Contestants finishing in the top six places will be recognized. Individual trophies will be awarded to 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd place finishers, and ribbons will be provided to 4 th , 5 th , and 6 th place winners. For the purpose of sweepstakes, points will be awarded to students placing in the top six. Therefore, the sweepstakes trophies will be awarded to the top three (3) finishing schools in 6 th grade and 7 th /8 th grade.
Accompanying this invitation are the entry forms, rules, and schedule of events for you to refer when signing up contestants. Please limit your entries to the number of slots indicated on the entry form.
Note: Cross-entering students will be at your own risk, as all events will start on time regardless of whether all
participants have reported to testing or the competition site. There will be no speaking order in the speaking events; however, the speaking events will run for 1 hour from the scheduled starting time. To avoid a “No Show” disqualification, please have your cross-entered students report in time.
A snack bar will be available for students. Complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for all UIL coaches and bus drivers. Please make sure to indicate the number of adults (coaches & bus drivers) attending the meet to prepare meals accordingly. A list of available restaurants will be provided for your convenience if ordering student meals.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, December 10, 2011. We are confident that you would have a great time at
Ringgold Middle School. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us at (956) 716-6851 or fax (956)

To help us with the planning and smooth transitions between events, we respectfully request a representative from your school to help grade the individual written events. If you don’t have students registered in certain events, you don’t have to send a representative for those events.
It is very important that each person listed on this list report to his or her assigned area at the designated time. If they are unable to report, please send a substitute in their place. If you don’t wish to have your coaches help with the grading, you may submit a fee of $10.00 for each unrepresented event, so a grader may be hired to complete the task. Thank you for assisting us with this process.

Students must bring their own pencils, blue pens, paper, calculator, dictionaries, and atlas as needed for events. Black or blue ink pens and college ruled notebook paper is required for Ready Writing. Audiences are permissible in the contest room during performances, provided that disruption does not occur. The judge(s) reserve the authority to address any and all disruptions as rendered. No coaching or coaches will be allowed in the rooms.
The judge’s opinion is FINAL.
Judges subjectively apply their own criteria to style and delivery of material and these criteria will vary minutely from judge to judge.
