What is Pulmonary
Rehabilitation?
When you have a lung disease,
you can find it difficult to move
around or do your normal daily
living activities. You may also find
that you get tired very easily.
The Programme
This consists of 2 classes per week for 6
weeks - a total of 12 classes.
Each session will last for about 2 hours.
The first hour is spent doing supervised
exercise, and this is followed by an
education/advice session.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is
designed to help you cope with
breathlessness and make you feel
stronger and fitter at the same time
Pulmonary Rehabilitation has been
proven to reduce the risk of hospital
admission for people with breathing
problems.
The course aims to  Increase your knowledge
of lung disease

How do I get Pulmonary
Rehabilitation?
Any professional involved in your
healthcare can refer you for
Pulmonary Rehabilitation - this
could be your GP, nurse or a chest
consultant. Alternatively, you can
refer yourself by phoning 01282
644131.
We will then contact you to arrange
an assessment by a physiotherapist
at the St. Peter's Centre in Burnley.
This will include  Completing a questionnaire
 Brief questions to establish the
nature of your chest problems
Chest examination
Measuring your walking
distance
 Establishing what you hope to
gain from the programme
Please ensure that you are
appropriately dressed to allow chest
examination.
Please bring your inhalers and a list
of your current medication, and
wear comfortable footwear.
