3. Fundraiser:

Plan to do a dinner event featuring the educational presentation about Chronic Kidney

Disease in Central America the first 2 weeks in March.

General consensus was that a weekend date might be better than a week night.

Ellie has contact info for a papusa caterer for the event.

Locations investigating include 2100 Bldg (Ellie investigating), Casa Latina and El Centro

De La Raza (Nancy S investigating).

Will try to keep cost low: $15-20/person and to aim for about 100 participants. Additional donations will be welcome.

Will invite family and friends and participants of other groups working in Central America and have table captains.

4. Chronic Kidney Disease presentation was reviewed and thought to be very good. Committee will continue to work on improving it and especially the advocacy/action items .

Ellie is working up a list of organizations to approach about having a talk on the issue.

Mary O’Connor is exploring UW groups.

Joe Sherman got feedback from his contact at Seamar that so far they are not seeing any

Latino patients with CKD here in Puget Sound area.

Nancy Stokley has learned that there is one day worker at Casa Latina who is on renal dialysis and lives at Union Gospel Mission but she does not have details of cause of his CKD. We need contacts at the NW Kidney Foundation to find out if they have been aware of the issue.
