EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING 1 AGENDA: Minutes
2015 – October 1; 5:30 P.M.

1) Introductions
2) Discussion about legal implications
 Please read constitution on IMSSA website
 Required to attend 75% of meetings (every other week for entire year including
summer)
o Email co-presidents if you must miss a meeting
o Allowed to miss up to 5
 Required to attend majority of IMSSA events
 Must follow UofT code of conduct
3) Meeting Layout and Format
 Every other Thursday in PMH boardroom at 5:30-6:30 (next: Oct. 15)
 Initial attendance sheet each meeting
4) Transfer of duties from last year’s council
 Only for certain positions; you will be contacted
5) Communications/Webmaster
 Send email with position, short bio, and picture to commims@gmail.com
 Vote: keep existing Weebly website or have IMSSA tab on IMS website
o Outcome: IMS website
 Weekly IMSSA emails on Thursday
o If you want an event included, send info by 11pm Wednesday to
commims@gmail.com
 Any Biomed Comm majors interested in designing posters for events?
6) Academic Affairs
 Held career seminar series last year; new working title: Professional Development
 May have mini challenges where faculty member poses a question, winner
meets faculty member
 Round table discussions with faculty member and chosen topic, chosen students
get to present
 Lab tours
 Any suggestions or interest in being on academic subcommittee please let Sarah
know
o Jonathon, Beatrice, Amir, Jessica, Saba, Vinoja, Dunja, Tania, Susana,

 Mentorship program: events with opportunity to speak to senior graduate
students, peer mentorship
7) Sporting Events
 Volleyball team: practice every 1-2 weeks, games 1x week, 5 week season
o Melissa, Bowen, Christine, Jonathon, Ruwandi, Hira, Fadl, Valera, Rachel,
Sarah, Anton
 Co-ed soccer
o Lori, Melissa, Bowen, Jonathon, Alex, Rachel, Fadl, Valera
 Anybody interested in other sports? Flag football, ultimate Frisbee, badminton
8) Social Events
 Ideas: AGO First Thursdays, Friday night live at the ROM, pub nights, skating,
escape room, paintball, apartment crawl
 Beatrice has discount at Duke of Somerset (Bay and Gerrard), trivia there
 Hart House farm retreat sleepover December 5th (Doodle will be sent out to
check dates)
9) Community and Outreach
 Last year: single day volunteering events
 Are people more interested in ongoing commitments, single day events, or
both?
o Is it possible to have 10-15 members do ongoing and rotate?
o Possible organizations? Let us know if you have connection to possible
organizations
o Vote next meeting
10) First-Year Representative
 Upper years let Saba know what would have been useful in first year
 Suggestions from first years are welcome
 Survey for first years for social events
 Meet and greet with site directors & international student rep at seminar
11) International Student Representative
 Events in tandem with Centre for International Experience at UofT
 Thanksgiving dinner at Hart House (tickets $20)
