DTS: A new tech credit option in MCPS
Pre-requisite:
Designing Technology Solutions is
about hardware and software, the
process of solving unique problems,
and understanding our modern
technological world. It will challenge
students to be creators of technology,
not just users.
Because of the course’s reliance on
logic, variables, and algorithmic
thinking, it is recommended that
students complete Algebra with a
grade of B or higher before taking DTS.

Expect DTS students to come voluntarily
during lunch for extra projects!
About the course
In this course, students are
introduced to engineering design
and development through
software engineering and robotics
technology. Students will explore
and develop an understanding of
technological issues and their
influence on society. Through
hands-on laboratory experiences,
students will complete individual
and collaborative projects that
enable them to demonstrate
understanding of design processes,
identify and define problems, and
realize design solutions.
DTS promotes 21st century skills.
All types of students
are engaged and see
the role of technology
in their lives.
