Files and folders stored on one or more servers running SE can be backed up to a Storage Platform. In
the event of data loss or corruption on the server, you can retrieve data from the Storage Platform and
restore it to the original or another server in just a few easy steps.
The technology utilises a file-based backup solution that requires the installation of a small software
agent onto your server(s). Using the agent interface (a custom -designed Graphical User Interface), the
IT administrator can select the files that need to be protected and choose a suitable backup schedule.
This set-up process is necessary only in the begi nning, thereafter the system operates automatically.
The remote management features enable the IT administrator to remotely connect to any Server Edition
agent to modify file selections or the backup schedule, and to view backup and restore logs.
Existing backup policies can be built into the agent using the integrated filters for inclusion, exclusion,
open-file management and multiple scheduling. Thereafter the solution uses proprietary technology to
mirror only the changes to the remote storage server, e ffectively reducing data transfer volumes by as
much as 98%. Secure encryption of all data ensures confidentiality.

Intelligent and automated solution: up-to-the-minute backup schedules ensure automatic and
regular backups without user intervention, therefore users never need to remember to follow a
manual backup process. Multiple Backup Sets (MBS) also enable you to create multiple sets of
selections and schedules for backups and restores.

Advanced file-backup features: the software makes use of intelligent file selection to
automatically protect important data.

profiling and filters to automate file inclusions and exclusions based on filename or file
type.Open file management is used to protect locked files and databases .

Bandwidth efficient: the solution makes use of bandwidth throttling and advanced scheduling
to manage larger data transfers. Binary level incremental backup technology sends file changes
only and this combined with individual file de-duplication, ensures de-duplication across all
backup accounts. This results in lower disk space, lower bandwidth usage and hence
accelerated backups.

Restore files with ease: single or multiple file recovery can be performed instantly online. Built in version control allows data to be recovered from any previ ously backed up state, allowing file
and system rollbacks. The IT administrator can also restore files remotely by using remote
restore commands.

Safe and secure: Attix5 Pro makes use of SSL encryption for data in transit and the Advanced
Encryption Standard (AES) to encrypt data on the Storage Platform. This industry standard
encryption cipher is faster and more secure than the legacy Blowfish encryption standard.
Backup client user authentication, web access user authentication and adjustable backup client
user permissions add further to the advanced security features and ensure the highest level of
backup environment security.


Product Options
The Server Edition has 3 solution configurations which clients can choose from (for detailed technical
information please refer to the Attix5 Pro – Technical Data document).
Option 1: Local server backup with remote storage at IS (Hosted Backup)
A backup client agent is installed on each server that you choose to backup, and backup files are
relayed off site to a server hosted by IS Hosting in a secure facility. W ith this option you don’t store any
backed up files on your local network. The storage server is mirrored by IS to a second offsite location.
Option 2: Local server backup with local storage (Onsite Backup)
You can choose to host the primary storage server on your local network and thus data is backed up to
a system inside your LAN. In this case you will provide the hardware for the storage platform and you
will rent the Storage Platform and Server software from IS Hosting. Mirroring between customer
branches is also an option.

Option 3: Local server backup, local storage plus a remote mirror at IS (Onsite Backup with Offsite Mirror)
This option provides for a local primary storage server (as with option 2) but includes a secondary data
mirror hosted by IS Hosting. Thus your primary backup will reside on your LAN but the storage server
that you host will replicate data to a shared offsite mirror in the IS Data Centre (this mirror can be a
dedicated server if you prefer). Thus the option provides for an additional layer of redundancy.
