In School At Home Teachers will work with students and their families to develop students’ learning. The focus of our key connections with families will be: Birney Classrooms will model our mission: Equal and challenging learning environments for all students. We are committed to promoting life-long learning that will enable students to become positive contributing members of a diverse society. Teachers will provide parents with communication from a monthly newsletter and from weekly Tuesday Folders. Teachers will send home information about your child, learning opportunities, family projects, school activities, field trips, and other resources for parents to support the curriculum standards. Teachers will provide high-quality, standards based instruction that will help students grow as Mathematicians and Scientists Readers, Researchers and Authors Problem Solvers and Presenters Birney parents will work with teachers and family members to support student learning. Families may have other ideas to add to the list. Actively support the classroom by reading Tuesday Folders, other school-home communication, and agendas (Second grade students only). Sign and return papers as soon as possible. Support the school by attending conferences, meetings, learning opportunities, and family school activities.
