2012-2013 Parent/School Compact
The Brookmeade Elementary Parent/School Compact was developed jointly with stakeholders. This is a binding agreement that outlines how
parents/school/students will share responsibility for improving student academic achievement. All parties who sign must declare intent to help to achieve stated
objectives.
Student Agreement
It is important that I work to the best of my ability. Therefore, I shall strive to do the following:

Abide by the safety rules set forth by our school and Board of Education

Attend school regularly and on time

Come to school each day with supplies: pencil, paper and other necessary materials for learning

Complete and turn in class work and homework assignments

Respect and cooperate with other students and adults

Parent/Guardian Agreement
I want my child to achieve his/her fullest potential. Therefore, I will be responsible for supporting my child’s learning by doing
the following:

Encourage my child’s effort and be available for questions

Encourage the use of safety rules set forth by our school and Board of Education

Provide a quiet place for study, establish a time for homework, and review it regularly

Reading and purchase books at home for entertainment

See that my child is punctual and attends school regularly

Make sure and stay aware of what my child is learning

Support the school in its efforts to maintain proper discipline

Communicate regularly with my child’s teacher to monitor his/her progress

Encourage my child to resolve conflicts in a positive way

Teacher Agreement
It is important that students achieve. Therefore, I will strive to do the following:

Have high expectations for all of my students

Help my students meet MCS and state standards

Encourage students and parents by providing weekly information about student progress and success

Communicate student progress during parent/teacher conferences and other scheduled appointments

Provide an orderly, secure, supportive and effective learning environment to enhance optimal learning

Provide high quality curriculum, instruction and supportive homework assignments for students

Employ various instructional strategies and techniques to meet the needs of my students

Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer, participate and observe in their child’s class

Principal/School Agreement
I support this document of parental involvement. Therefore, I shall strive to do the following:

Have challenging expectations for students, families, and staff

Provide an environment that emphasizes the importance of teacher/parent communication and allows for positive
communication among students, parents, and teachers

Support teachers’ and students’ efforts to achieve and maintain safety and order

Ensure implementation of MCS academic programs as directed by district

Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and parents

Foster parent/teacher relationships by allowing parent access to staff

Schedule Title I meeting(s) to discuss the school-parent compact and its relationship to individual student achievement
