Facility Development Plan Why carry out a facility Audit? Associations have a fundamental dependence on their facilities and equipment to provide quality services to their members. There is an increasing need to remain accountable to members and other facility stakeholders for any changes to premises to meet membership needs and risks that may arise as a result. The Current Situation Being aware of your current position will complement any risk management processes used by the Association. Taking responsibility for physical structures and objects in the area where you conduct your regular activities allows the Association to bring potential risks, maintenance and development issues to surface within the Association and its stakeholders. By carrying out an annual facility audit the Association will not only understand the current conditions but will be able to track past trends with the facility. Future Planning As personnel and areas of responsibilities change over time within a committee it is advised to include photographs with your audit. This will give each audit a point of reference for the next and only strengthens the collection of data for future use. As stated earlier this data can be used for strategic planning and in consideration of facility maintenance and upgrades. You can provide this data to assist project managers who are planning and developing upgrades to courts and amenities for the Association. This data will give a historical reference to the site for planning considerations. Audit Guides Netball Queensland has developed a Facility Audit Guide for use by Associations. This guide has been developed as a board starting point for further development and individualisation by Associations. Councils and other land owners will also have facility audit documents to assist Associations in developing audit documentation for their own use. FACILITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN Including facility and other forms of auditing as an annual process within your Association is highly beneficial for many reasons. A facility audit will assist in: Capturing a current account of conditions at the facility. Highlighting areas of concern. Providing data and supporting information for use when strategic planning, applying for funding, and when discussing facility maintenance/upgrades. Showing the ability of the facility to cater for future growth. Facility Audit Guide A snapshot of the current state of facilities assists in planning and in the preparation for future planning. The following can be used as a starting guide when carrying out a facility audit at Associations.
