Date due e. Period Part Two: Personal Integer Time Line Choose 10 important dates to you. Five of the dates must be before you were born, and five of the dates must be after your birth. You must have 10 different years for the dates. They could be Elvis’ birth date, or the year Michael Jordan won his first NBA Championship, or the year your grandmother came to the United States. The year you were born will correspond to zero on the number line. The dates after your birth will be positive numbers The years before your birth will represent negative numbers, according to how many years before your birth they were. For example, if you were born in 1993, that would be zero. If your brother was born in 1995, that would be +2 on your number line. Your mother’s birth in 1958 would correspond to –35 on the number line because it was 35 years before your birth. Ignore the fact that she may have only been 34 years old when you were born. We’re only interested in the years matching up. You will create a timeline using pictures, drawings, or internet clips. Each tic mark on your number line must contain three things: the actual year the corresponding integer Picture, drawing, or clipart Before completing your final project for part two, all students should complete the draft worksheets. This will help guide you through the final project. Your final project for part two must consist of the draft worksheets and your final timeline booklet. You will be graded on the accuracy of the placement of numbers, and to a lesser degree on your creativity and presentation. Step 2: List the years those 5 events took place. (Note: The 5 events must come from 5 different years!) Step 3: Write the integer that corresponds to that event. (For example: If you were born in 1995, and if you have an event from 1990, the corresponding integer would be –5 because it happened 5 years before you were born. If you have an event from 1989, the corresponding integer would be –6 because it happened 6 years before you were born.) Step 4: Obtain 5 pictures and/or clipart that correspond to each event. Year of Event Event Corresponding Integer Year of Your Birth… Step 5: Fill in the chart below related to your birth. (Fill in the year of your birth. The corresponding integer is 0).
