Request for Proposals Speakers at the ACCP Annual Conference www.accprof.org ACCP: The Conference 2016 March 20-23, 2016 Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter San Diego, CA RFP Overview The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals for speakers for the 2016 Annual Conference on Corporate Contributions. ACCP is seeking conference speakers for both general sessions and learning labs (breakouts) who have the ability to be engaging while educating conference participants. Please read the entire document for background information and details. Speaker proposals are due: July 31, 2015. About ACCP ACCP is the sole trade association representing the interests of corporate executives responsible for social investments and corporate philanthropy. These executives have both strategic and tactical responsibilities. ACCP was started by practitioners with the notion that creating standards is a prerequisite for building a body of knowledge in the corporate responsibility profession. ACCP is comprised of over 150 member companies, covering 12 different industries. About the ACCP Annual Conference The Annual Conference on Corporate Contributions is like no other meeting. It has become one of the most significant professional learning events in its field. Each year, ACCP’s conference offers participants a source of education and an opportunity to interact with fellow corporate contributions professionals. Participants walk away with principles they can immediately apply in the workplace so that they may confidently navigate and excel in their profession. Topics differ year-to-year, following trends and forecasted trends within the field. Speakers take part in panel discussions or provide independent presentations that provoke thought leadership in the field. Who are the attendees/participants? The Annual Conference on Corporate Contributions is attended by 200+ corporate contributions executives. Position levels include managers, supervisors and vice presidents. Job titles include Vice President of Corporate Responsibility, Director of Community Relations, etc. The ratio of women to men is about 70:30. Page 2 of 7 ACCP: The Conference 2016 2016 Conference Focus: The conference’s main goal is to improve the attendees’ jobs and professional capacities. There will be four major areas of focus for the 2016 conference: 1. Strategy (Why have one, How to get one, How to use it, etc.) 2. Internal Alignment (How to connect with other departments, How to handle what others do and control scope creep from others) 3. Influence (Communicating with the vast array of stakeholders, with a particular focus on senior management) 4. Recasting the value individuals bring to an organization (You as a brand, Evolution of the CR role and remaining relevant, How to move from a cost center to an asset) Educational Goals/ Learning Objectives Speakers should tailor their messages to the audience and empower the participants to apply the information to their real-world challenges. A session that is practical in nature would be considered a successful session. The applicability of the content is the most important part of all of the sessions at the Conference. Speakers should provide resources, reinforcement and materials to help participants deepen their learning of the concept. Various formats are encouraged including (but not limited to) workshops, panels, case studies, hands on activities, group discussions, point/counterpoint etc. Conference is evolving. Click here to view up to date information on the ACCP website. General Session Information and Formats General Sessions range in length from 45 minutes to 75 minutes. Average attendance is about 210 people. We are seeking the following formats: panels, facilitated fireside chats, point/counterpoint, keynotes that take advantage of the audience seated in rounds for small table discussions. Desired General Session Topics (in addition to the four focus areas) 1. The implications of different generations on the work environment 2. Aligning corporate philanthropy with business practices 3. Integrating CR into various departments 4. Storytelling 5. Collaborating with other companies for impact 6. Inspirational speeches Please feel free to suggest a potential topic if you think it would be a valuable addition to the conference but does not fit under any of the above. Learning Lab (Breakout) Information and Formats Page 3 of 7 The 2015 Learning Labs schedule will have time slots 60 and 75 minutes long, focused around actionable takeaways for participants. The Learning Labs must allow an ample amount of interaction and discussion. Average attendance is about 30 people. The format can vary from a true workshop to an open audience dialogue depending on the topic. Desired Learning Lab Session Topics (in addition to the four focus areas) 1. Measuring the impact of CR 2. Professional Development a. Personal brand b. influence c. strategic/critical thinking 3. Writing a strategic plan 4. How to forecast trends/shifts 5. Lodging, airfare and transportation will be negotiated on a speaker-byspeaker basis. Even though ACCP will provide a table, it will be the sole responsibility of the speaker to facilitate this opportunity.
